I've got a 2009 (I think) Samsung LN46a850. I worked perfectly (although a few years back I had to replace the something-or-other inside).

It's on the stand, and I want to mount it on the wall. I picked up up and laid it on a blanket on the table, face down. I tried unscrewing the screws for the stand, but one stripped. Lots of cursing ensued. I put the stand back together, put the tv back where it was, and plugged the tivo box hdmi cable in and turned it on. there's thin blue vertical line all the way to the left, and a think pink vertical line towards the right. And I get this blue haze in the dark areas:

I didn't drop it or bang it. I tried switching the hdmi to a different input and get the same results.

Any ideas?

OH NO...eek.gif

Brings back painful memories...I also had a Samsung A850.

I also had a vertical blue line on the left- no blue haze or pink line.

I believe you have a multi-circuit contact issue (T-Con board and 2 flex cables).

Unfortunately, the panel needs to be repaired.

This video may explain your issue:

Well, the tv seemed to fix itself. Then I mounted it on the wall. And now I've got a green haze throughout. Should I hope that if fixes itself? Or do I need to open it up and try to reset the connections?

Doesn't sound like the TV fixed itself if your still having problems. PiratesCove gave the best advice

After getting the set mounted on the wall, my picture looks like this:

I took it off the wall, opened the back, and checked all of the plug-in connections inside. They all seem to be set tight. I'm concerned that when I was trying to remove a stripped screw to get the stand off, I cracked the back of the glass with the point of my screwdriver. (I got frustrated.) Will that screw up the picture? I'm trying to decide whether it's worthwhile to bring out a technician?

Well I would say something happened. I would explain to the tech. On the phone and send him your photos. Check if he will give you a quote and then YOU have to decide if its worth fixing or getting another set. With the way it is now it would probably be ok watching Wizard of Oz and if it goes back to blue again Blue Man Group would be my choice.
