Hi
I've finally decided to buy new LED TV. However I can't decide whether to get a 46HX929 or a 55HX850. These are the only two high end Sony TVs available in my country, both are in short supply.

I prefer a bigger size TV but I'm concerned about the drop in picture quality. How big is the picture difference between the HX929 and HX850?

CNET says there's little difference but PCMAG says there's a huge difference.
Chad B gave an excellent review of the HX929 but didn't review the HX850 so any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

The HX850 is a Edge Lit dimming, the HX929 is a Full Array Local Dimming. The HX929 will outperform the HX850 in a (nearly) dark room. Under normal light conditions you won't see much difference.

I guess the price and your view distance will play a role. Both the hx929 and hx850 use the same panel. I think the biggest difference will be one is backlit the other is edge lit.

Hi
Does the backlight make a huge difference? Would the HX929 really stand out next to the hx850 in a dark lamp lit room?

Thanks

maybe this review will help (HX950 has the same pq as HX929).

Lot of folks here would chose a Full Array Local Dimming over any Edge Lit Dimming.

Unfortunately the HX950 was never released in the UK. Both the hx850 and the hx929 are in short supply. I can either choose great quality but small size or huge size but at reduced quality.
I'm trying to find out how large the quality difference is, minor or large. I sit 10 feet away and watch a lot of sci-fi movies.

Thanks
