I went to Sears and PC Richard and Son yesterday. Using the THX Optimizer loaded on my portable Sony BDP-SX910, I connected it to the Panasonic TC-P##S60, Sony KDL-##R4##A, and the Sony KDL-##W802A via HDMI. After getting it to look its best on all three of them, I made my decision. Because of where I'm posting this, I think you can figure out which series I decided on. With the backlight and Picture set to Max, color set to 50, hugh set to 0, and black corrector, contrast enhance, live color, LED Motion, light sensor, etc. set to Off, after comparing it to a Panasonic TC-P##S60 plasma and a Sony KDL-40R450A, I get pitch blacks, eye-piercing whites, and ritch, accurate colors. I read a review on Amazon stating that the blacks aren't as deep as on a Panasonic plasma, but the only way I can reproduce his experience would be to raise the so-called 'Brightness' to a value well over 50. If you want a current TV with a quality panel and acceptable internal speakers, the Sony KDL-##W802A would be a good choice! I won't actually be able to get mine until a week before the downstares of my house has been redone after resulting from the Hurricane Sandy damage. At least I have a great TV to look forward to.
