The W700b is derivative of the 2014 W800b, which seems to be much better regarded than the W802a. Any thoughts from W802a owners, cautionary or praise-worthy?

What's the difference in price between the two models? I think $850 for this set is a fantastic deal. I paid like $1500 for mine. No QC or uniformity issues to speak of.

I have to move my 55w802a within my home and I'm wondering if moving it with the stand attached is OK or do I risk putting unnecessary stress on the panel? I'll be moving it myself, so I won't be able to provide any support to the stand while carrying it. Is it best to detach the panel from the stand and then move? I may be over thinking this, but I'll be carrying it for quite a bit of a distance and it will involve a set of stairs.

Do any of the Sony KDL55W802a owners here use ARC on this unit?

I was always a source-receiver-Display guy, but yesterday while doing some re-wiring I decided to try the ARC feature. No matter what I do I can not get the TV to pass 5.1 from an input source to the receiver! Is it not possible to direct wire to this TV and get the ARC to pass 5.1?

I have tried all settings I can think of but the display will only pass stereo over the ARC.....any suggestions?

Wake me when HD gets Here!

used KDL55-W802A value

Hi Folks,

I'm new to the forum, and a total newbie with this model (KDL55-W802A) or any other... this is our first smart TV.

The reason I'm posting is that a friend had to leave town and lend us this TV, to see if we were able to sell it.

We have been using it for a month, or so, and it has no problems at all, I would say that it is in as new condition.

My problem is that He told us that he spent $1500 more or less on the TV like three years ago. I know that this things don't hold their value very well, but I wanted to ask you guys how much would be the minimum you would accept for it. (more or less..) He told us that He will be happy with $500 but He couldn't sell it prior to leave.. People were giving him $300 and He refused..

I would want to sell it locally, to avoid the hassle of shipping/insurance costs and related (possibly) nightmares.. and also that way the buyer could check that the TV is OK..

Any tip for it's actual value will be appreciated!!

Best.

Craigslist is your best bet. I still have and use this TV as my main display and it's a solid smart 1080P TV with 3D capability. No way I would accept $300 for it. Anyway you could just pay your friend the $500 and keep it yourself?

Thanks a lot for your kind words!

We have think to buy the TV from him, but for that I would need to know a fair price.. I would feel bad to offer him $500 if the actual value is $800 or so... because I know that at this point He wouldn't care and would try to give it to us as a gift.. I would want to pay him accordingly.. but maybe if it's too expensive I would prefer selling it.. We really don't know what to do..

Because with people on CL offering $300 and this economy maybe it's going hard to sell..
