I understand the effort put into the original film presentation, but my taste differs just a little, so since my opinion matters most to me, I'll continue to waste that effort. Guess I'm not a videophile.
It does annoy me that I am forced to view something with black bars.  I have a nice big TV, wanna view it full screen.  But, not to the extent to change if to full or whatever they call it.

Wow, those are some really big lips! Nice picture though...according to my HP monitor anyway. It looks like your pic is a bit darker than HPQ's, and I think he's using a backlight of 7. What's yours on?
Big lips ?  That's a sexy mouth, to me.  Oops, I think I am off topic now, the board topic.  That pic taken on Superbowl Sunday, not sure what BL was.  Usually during the day I am 10 - 12.  At night, usually 8.

Yeah, it would be nice to have a film aspect ratio that's the same a our 16x9 sets and doesn't waste screen real estate!

I didn't mean big lips like Angelina Jolie's, but because they filled the entire screen. smile.gif

Here is what mine looks like.  Of course takings pictures, cameras very.  You seems to have a little more color, blue eyes little bluer, more pink in the lipstick, cheeks.
I am still working on trying to better dial in my PQ.

your picture is still very nice. Did you get the full black screen when the letters showed up near the start?

With the VEVO app you can watch music videos, stream live concerts, and discover new artists. Vevo is a joint venture of Universal Music Group, Google, Sony Music Entertainment and Abu Dhabi Media.

Yep, the full black screen.  I love my black levels on my TV.  And my picture, nice, I am very happy with it.  Just trying to dial it it more, better.  Like the little more color in yours.

HI!
Edit: I moved the TV down 2 holes ( I could not go all three as the bridge between the lower slots lined up right over the lower hole) and I moved the trans spacers on the outside of the bracket. I feel a lot better about that. The weight on the bolt is now closer to the TV.

I bought a transdec TV stand for my 65F8000. I love everything about it but the bolts it came with were too long.

http://transdecointl.com/td550hb.htm

The stand came with spacers and suggested using them if the bolts are too long. I used the M8x32mm bolts. They stuck out about the size of the 14mm plastic spacers

So following the directions, I put the thin rubber washer, then the plastic spacer, then the mount, then the metal washer and bolt through it all. It was able to cinch down pretty well.

Is this the right way to mount a 65" TV? It sure looks like the mount is a good distance (14mm) from the TV, so the pressure point is a bit away from the TV.

Also the TV is slanted to the left a little. There was a little slop in the holes (the bottom bolt goes through a slot) so I guess I will take it down and see if I can move the bracket up as much as the hole slop will allow me. The rest of the stand seems perfectly level.

Should I get shorter bolts and remove the spacers? Or is this appropriate for 22.5 lbs on each bolt?

Thanks!

Steve

I have a dilemma.

Recently having purchased a 60F8500 pdp I am bummed at the directional buzzing from 13ft+ back.

I am within the return window & not wanting to play the panel lottery for next buzzer or not, I am now considering a F8000.

But, I am hesitant because of past Sammy lcd uniformity, clouding, vertical banding & flashlighting. I have read several reviews that say all of this had been vanquished with the F8000. If this is true I am going to be hard pressed not to go for the swap & acquire the 60F8000.

I've heard from a few users here that the 65 is a banding demon & can't see paying $500 more for 4.5 inches anyway.

Are there any former F8500 owners here that went with the F8000? And if so, which had the better 3D? 24p cadence issues and motion resolution are of some importance too.

Mainly using for HD(DirecTV/Fios), Blu-Ray & some SD programming. No gaming or HTPC usage.

Thanks for your time.

My new 65F8000 has some banding and brighter areas on the sides. It could be calibration, or my panel. I have not decided yet. It's not terrible and I'm becoming less picky, but for $3000 it should be pretty damn close to perfect smile.gif

A simple setup question. During setup I could not set up my cable tv set top box because I don't use one. I use an HTPC for TV reception and DVR recording which Samsung does not support. As a result in the Smart Hub I have no TV icon at the top. I don't fully understand why it is missing. Does it automatically get rid of the icon and associate smart hub panel when you cannot set up the cable box?

What sold me on the TV when seeing it in the store was this TV panel showing live tv in the upper left. Now I don't see that smart hub panel at all.

Congrats! Once you apply Buzz settings, you should see improvement. Take some pics! smile.gif

I use antenna so can't say much in regards to this.. I suspect for the channel details, it is looking for scanned channels. Are you able to scan channels?

I was hoping this would not be an issue with Sammy's 65" flagship.....it should be much better than the screen issues I'm hearing about and currently experiencing with my 65" 6350 and 60" 7100 mild clouding and slight banding ( not horrible at all but noticeable) I really want to get the 65" 8000 as I was under the impression that for 3 grand and top of THERE line I would escape the flaws in their mid to lower end TVs 65" owners please chim in :-) as my finger is on the trigger. The only other concern for me is living in Alaska!!! I can only buy from Samsung online amazon and all other big box online stores won't ship to Alaska......soooooo two weeks shipping at worst try new set and if I need to try a new panel due to clouding or banding issues 2 weeks shipping back and I'm out of my 30 day no questions asked warranty is this correct. ( no TV repare guys where I live ) if anyone can talk on the quality of there 65 inch 8000 would be much appreciated I really want to pull the trigger on this Thanks AWSOME forum

Clouding and all other issues associated with edge Lit TV's will always be there -- it is part of the edge Lit technology!

They are more minimized for sure with the F8000 and with Buzz settings or by having it calibrated, you can further minimize those issues. You can't eliminate it but you can live with it.

hey guys , i have a small problem with my tv and hope you guys can help me . when the tv is off i have to press the red power button on the remote controll several times to turn the tv on , it just simply doesnt turn on with the first push , but when the tv is on the remote works perfect without any delay , again when i want to turn it off it doesnt turn off with the first effort , i have to press the power button 6 or 7 time to turn it off . i tried getting closer to tv , changing battery and ... but nothing fixed it .

second problem is that i cant see real 3d on this tv ( actually it is my first exp with 3d ) . what i mean is that 3d movies doesnt have that huge depth for me , i mean its just like the 2d with small 3d effects that doesnt impress me at all , fast scenes also have a lot of blur ( or whataver it is called ) and it gives me some kind of headache too , my eays are not  comfortable with it and i rather watch movies in 2d , is it just me or the 3d is not that awesome effect and tech i was expected . ( also tried some calibrations and other settings but overall its the same , note that the 3d depth setting on my tv is gray and is set to 5 i guess ) .

(pardon my bad english )

That is very strange that you have to press the power button several times to turn on or off. I have no issues with the samsung remote. I do use a universal remote and for that one also, I have no issues.

Have you tried a universal remote?

For the 3d, are you seeing the 3d app on the smart hub or you put in a 3d blu ray movie into a 3d blu player and used a 3d AVR ?

What is the 3d movie you watched?

Assuming your set came with 2 remotes, are both behaving this way?
And, regarding the 3D, (may be a silly question), but are you enabling 3D via the remote control? This is my first experience with home 3D abd I was quite impressed!

I also had no issues with 3d but for me, I put in the 3d movie in the oppo and on the tv, it automatically changed to 3d. I didn't need to do anything on the remote. The TV just switched once the signal was received from the oppo. smile.gif

They are more minimized for sure with the F8000 and with Buzz settings or by having it calibrated, you can further minimize those issues. You can't eliminate it but you can live with it.

I guess, it's just too bad. I think the clouding in the corners got worse once I hung it. I hand tightened the bolts, but I think it's doing something to the panel.

On demand, I am not sure.. If you have a 3d blu ray that would be best to test. smile.gif

Just coming to say that I'm watching Canada vs. US women's gold hockey finals on my set, and it's seriously like being there. Trying out the AMP on Smooth, and it works really well for sport, I can see why it exists at all now.

Yeah, hockey really shines on the F8000.

Big LA Kings fan, watch them all the time, though my AMP is on Clear.

I watch everything AMP on Clear.
