LOL.!!! I better make sure my 16 yr old son wasn't drinking this afternoon! In any event, seems the tv turned on by itself. At least the ghosts like poker rolleyes.gif
Now, back to your regularly scheduled programming....the picture on this tv rocks!!!

Flashlighting in the corners + clouding mostly in the top middle-right portion. It's almost as bad as ES8000 and I'm thinking "almost" may be due to lower brightness levels I have on F. I'm still struggling with picture settings, but haven't tried those SM ones mentioned in this thread. My ES800 had the best picture I've ever had (settings from ES8000 thread)

People who don't have any back-light bleeding issues - is your TV mounted?

Thanks

P.S. What do you guys think of F7100? I know it's inferior in pecs, but will the difference really noticeable?

Can you take a picture of the clouding/flashlight? Also, tell us what picture settings you're using in detail please.

I'm using these settings

CNET

and also these from ES800 thread. These looked the best on my ES800.

Nitra's from ES8000 thread

Which settings are highly praised here? the ones with SM tweaks?

I'll try to take a picture at night with better camera and post them later.

Do you like bright poppy pushing the F8000 to its contrast and color space limits but close to reference picture or strictly reference (120 nits, 6500K color temp, Rec.709) picture?

I have no idea what the above means. sorry smile.gif
The ES8000 settings I had were my favorite by far. I'd notice and enjoy them every time I'd power on.
I've had a bunch of 7 series samsungs and always tried settings found online, here, cnet and one other site, but not one had the settings that I enjoyed as much as ES8000

The first thing that I would like to stress to you is to never copy other people's settings, even from professional reviewers. Just because their White Balance settings are calibrated for their F8000 doesn't mean they are the correct settings for your F8000. And I stress this time and time again on this forum because the White Balance settings are the single most important settings needed to get the "looking through a window" effect. The White Balance also has a large impact on the contrast ratio of the TV.

I would strongly encourage you to try these settings verbatim in Standard Mode:

Picture preset: Standard
Backlight 20 (Your preference, I like my peak whites bright)
Contrast 100
Brightness: 45 (or 46)
Sharpness: 0 (20 max)
Color: 50
Tint: G50/G50
Picture size: Screen Fit
Dynamic Contrast Off
Black Tone Off
Flesh Tone 0
Color space Native
Gamma 0

White Balance:
R-Offset 23
G-Offset 24
B-Offset 24
R-Gain 0
G-Gain 15
B-Gain 50

Color tone Warm2
Digital Clean View Off
MPEG noise filter Off
HDMI Black level Low
Film Mode Auto1 (Best for deinterlacing set top box feeds)
Motion Plus On (LED Clear: On, Anti-Blur 10, Anti-Judder 0)
Smart LED Standard (I prefer High)
Cinema Black On

Another user confirmed that these WB settings gave him a uniform greyscale. These settings give you the highest contrast ratio the F8000 is capable of producing as well as the "looking through the window" effect. The WB may need some minor adjustments depending on how different your F8000 panel is. Check Expert Pattern 1 in the Advanced picture settings menu to check the grey scale.

The first two statements seem to conflict

Though you covered yourself in the last statement  ;)

Generally, I agree with you.  Find a good starting point and tweek from there.

Just purchased a Samsung UN60F8000 with a type: TS01 panel.

Can the Slim external hard drives like the Seagate be used with the f8000 to playback movies (Xvid)? If so would the 500g or 1tb sizes be ok with a 5400rpm drive? Or would a smaller size drive or thumbdrive be better to playback movies? Thx.

Yeah, never user other people's settings for your particular panel, but do use mine?!? Just kidding...DRN did say "try" these settings, which is good advice. However, nikon5400 was using CNET's settings, which I'd say are at least ballpark and should not be causing any clouding or flashlighting. Sounds like a bad panel to me. My 55" is mounted and I don't see that. I think the PQ difference of the F7100 would be noticeable in a side-by-side comparison, otherwise it would probably depend on the viewer.

The TS01 is a Samsung s-pva panel correct? It is a good/desired panel? Is the TS02 any better or is it equal? My manufacturing date is very recent to time of purchase and it is a TS01

Is my "Cinema Black" not working?!? I am watching 2.40:1 Blu-Ray Movie & the Black Bars look the same with CB on or off. Does it work in conjunction with another setting? Or only in "Movie" mode?

Has it ever not worked? I just ordered a 55 yesterday, I hope I can look past some faults and keep this one. This is my 3rd different television in the last 3 weeks.

Damn, from what I read, cinema black basically turns those zones off. Maybe it has something to do with it being 2:40 instead of 2:35.

Hi. I've been lurking here for forever. I read a lot of posts in this thread and finally pulled the trigger on the 65". I was afraid to get anything above 55" because some have received tvs with banding. Anyway, here is my 65". I'm happy I got the 65".

I was so excited about this tv and I forgot I don't have a table that's wide enough for the tv to stand on. I found a short table and tied to it a cooler so the tv can stand on it. Haha. I'm waiting for my wall mount from Amazon, which should be here in a couple of days. The table I found is so short that I'm afraid my english bulldog will climb and scratch the tv. So for the time being, my english bulldog will be in his kennel (you can see him a little mad in the top left corner).

The setting out of the box is pretty good to begin with. I haven't touch anything yet in terms of settings. I'll probably start tweaking with it after I mount it. Not a good photo but Fast and Furious was on tv, and it looked pretty good. R.I.P. Paul Walker.
