From what I've read from other posters in this thread, only if Samsung deems it "out of spec"...

I fixed the issue with the Samsung F8000 and Denon displaying Anynet+ volume and TV volume outputs.

On the Denon remote go to settings, video, on screen display, and turn it to OFF.

I hope that helps Opentoe

Based on better dimming and the smart evo kit, and apparently great pricing, I feel comfortable recommending the F8000 over H7150.

Where are you seeing good pricing on the f8000? I am showing it more than the h7150 in every size. I am looking for the 65 inch version.

Disregard the pricing comment, someone posted they bought a 55" for $999.00, but I just realized it was open box from BB...

For what it's worth, 55" on eBay retailer listing for $1,299.99:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Samsung-UN55...epn=5337259887

They are a reputable retailer, but I'm not sure about authorized reseller and warranty coverage, so due diligence recommended to those that are interested. I didn't pull the trigger, but mostly because its a little above my current budget.

Just about to buy a UN75F8000

Hi folks,

Brand new to the forum.

I purchased a UN75F8000 from Nice Electronics ($3375) and they called me today to confirm the order. The sales guy then went on to tell me that I was buying an new but older 2013 model that was reported to have problems with haloing, Smart software problems (intermittent rebooting), and to top it off was part of the big Samsung panel lottery fiasco.

He (of course) then said he could sell me a new 2014 UN75F8000 model ($4099) that had none of these problems. I told him they did not make the UN75F8000 for 2014 as its been replaced with a different model, but he disagreed.

To me this sounds like a sales scam, but I wanted to check and see if anyone knew about his claims that the early models had these problems. I realize he's trying to upsell me based on a low-ball price, but I might just call his bluff if I can find out more.

Thanks in advance for the help. - Mike

Official Samsung UNxxF8000 Owners Thread

^ There is NO 2014 UNxxF8000 model. 2014 models replace the F with an H. My understanding with the panels is that the F series did not have this halo problem (although some of the larger panels are more prone to 'flashlighting') it was the E series of 2012 that suffered with them. In my work I've encountered many f8000s and quite a few h8000s. Overall I prefer and own an F8000.

It was me who bought the 55" for $999.00 from BB. Love the TV buy my only issue is regarding clouding that my TV seems to suffer from. I tried Buzz's as well as CNET's settings and I can still see it. Keep in mind that I can only really see it in dark scenes and at night time when the ambient light is minimum. See pictures below. Is this normal for LED sets particularly this one? I'm coming from a Panny 50" Plasma so I don't have a comparison to other LED's.

The problem I have is that this is a open box unit and BB no longer stock these models. So if I decide to return it, I can't get another replacement and I'm looking at other lower end models in the $1000.00 range.

tq745, have the camera height level with the center of the screen and at least 7-8 feet back. Then take a picture. This will be closer to the sweet spot for the screen and should show a more realistic interpretation of what the clouding looks like during ideal viewing. Because you're looking down you're slightly off axis with the bottom of the screen.

I have the 55" TS01 F8000, got it last year on July 1st. My unit is practically flawless in uniformity however I still have to wrestle with the viewing angle. It is quite narrow on this set and even just slightly off the blacks will start to get a bluish grey haze, you really have to be dead on straight to it to get the best blacks the set is capable of.

Turning the backlight down to 5-8 at night should help. It'll bring your peak white down to that of a typical plasma and in turn will deepen the black level. I prefer maxed out backlight because I feel it looks more realistic but if clouding is excessive, lowering the backlight to 5-8 at night should help a lot.

If you're still not satisfied with it you can always return it for a money back refund? You won't find a better LED at that price point than the open box F8000 you found.

What's the difference between the 55h7150 and f8000? I went into best buy last night and they have an open box f8000. It doesn't include the stand so it would have to be wall mounted and I'm not completely sure I want to mount it. The price isn't bad. It's $1,300 with an extra 25%. So I'm looking at $975 for the f8000 plus mounting or around $1500 for a brand new h7150.

From what I've read, the only major difference is the F8000 has better dimming and the smart evolution kit. There's probably more, but I believe those are the critical differences.

concerned about buying this TV online

Good morning everyone. Back in 2009 and thanks to the great advice on this forum I purchased the LN55A950D1F. Sadly, it has the dreaded black horizontal lines on it now and needs to be replaced. I have settled on the UN60F8000 as a replacement, but being a 2013 model it is not in stock anywhere around here so I have to purchase it online. I see all of these websites that I have never heard of offering this unit for considerably less than the more well-known retailers, so I was wondering if anyone has any experience purchasing from the likes of Abe's, East Coast TV, etc. I am the type of person who likes the comfort of buying from a brick and mortar or a Best Buy online in case of problems with the product, but in this case that is not an option and I am scared to death of dropping this much money and getting burned, but at the same time $600-$700 in savings is attractive enough for me to at least explore it and I know you guys are the right folks to ask! I did do a search and could only find reference to Pauls TV who is out of stock.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I would skip online retailers as much as possible except for amazon which has a great return policy..

East Coast -- check bbb.

Thanks, I think I might go with h8000 seems like that's more equal to the f8000.

Do a search for local custom home theater stores in your area. A lot of them will have discontinued items which they will wnat to get rid of to make space for newer models. Especially old models hanging on their display shelves..

NO luck. I guess my next question is how much better is the hardware based dimming and since the F8000 are not readily available is the H7150 the best I can do without going to a curved unit which I do not wat?

I am in need of help... please! I have the Samsung F8000 55" connected to a Denon AVR X3000 which was all working great. I was watching TV today and went to change the Picture mode and saw it was in - Stadium. I've never even seen this option before? Now I can't reset it or change anything with the picture settings, such as go to Dynamic, Movie, or the various modes.

Please help me and tell me what is wrong?

I'm stuck right now and googled everything with no answers.

I hope you guys can help or point me in the right direction.

Check the Denon settings, I suspect it's putting the tv in stadium mode.
If I enable BDwise on my bluray player, it forces my tv into BDwise and that's my only picture mode option.

I did a search on F8000 on Amazon and there are various models available.

55 inch here.

60 inch here..

65 inch here..

75 inch here..

Amazon has a great return policy so I wouldn't worry from buying from them.

It seems you enabled sports mode. This mode can be found in the menu under smart features. Here you can disable sports mode and then the normal picture settings should be back. Don't ask me why Samsung handled it this way....

Oh and btw, sports mode is only available in the EU version.

Have a quick question for AVS users:

Can anyone comment on a Vizio M (2014) vs. the Samsung F8000 (2013)??

It seems like many of you feel Vizio is not a good option, but since they use backlit full array local dimming, should I give them some thought in comparison to the F8000? From everything I have read the F8000 is awesome, but the fact that it is edge-lit gives me concern. I have seen too many screenshots of people experiencing flashlighting, etc. on their F8000's...

Any thoughts?

I think you have to understand the trade offs and how comfortable you are with risk vs the savings. Everyone has different levels of being comfortable with the risk. I did purchase from East Coast as I was comfortable with the risk and did my research and my 65 came with no problems. The savings were worth the risk to me
