2. It does seem established now that the firmware updates have now made Game Mode superior for gaming than either Movie Mode or PC Mode. Would anyone disagree with that?

Thanks
I am also interested if there have been improvements to the input lag in recent versions of firmware. Anyone have any comments on this?

Firmware updates have slowed down, and input lag hasn't been lowered any further since the initial update that improved it.

My 6400 has 42mm input lag & tbh I can hardly notice the difference from my 16mms Sony. I've tried PC mode & the picture looks utter dogshit..

Buzzard, I was wondering if you change your calibration settings after your initial setup.

Thanks

Hey guys, wondering if any of you are experiencing any issues with your f8000 sets. I'm about to get the 75", but have the following concerns:

Have issues of TV turning off randomly and bringing up weird messages and such been fixed with the firmware updates? I've found numerous complaints about this issue in various forums. Anyone still encountering such issues?

Would edge lighting introduce uniformity issues at 75" screen size? Some reviews mention dark artifacts in the middle even with local dimming enabled...

Any other issues encountered with the f8000 that one should be aware of when making such purchase decision? Obviously I'd hate to spend that kind of money only to face issues... My other TV is a Panny VT50, so I'm trying to get an LED that's a good performer that at least somewhat compares with PQ, and f8000 seems to offer best PQ still for an LED even compared with 2014 models.

Does anyone wish they could go back and exchange it for a full array Vizio? That's the other and considerably cheaper option, although I'm not entirely sure if Vizio is quite the quality TV overall...

Thanks for anyone's thoughts and input. I figured where else can I get better idea than here on AVS
Thanks...

Buzzard updated his settings after 250 hours of use at post 696. I'm interested in if there's been anything since then.

In addition, I don't recall where but someone compiled a spreadsheet of F8000 calibration settings done by various sources. On it, there are additional detailed settings by Buzzard for daytime and nighttime. Without going in the service menu, if that was required, I tried one of those sets and found them to be awful (UN46). Not sure what to make of it.

Were it not for the width of the stand, I would definitely get the UN55F8000, but the stand is too wide to fit on my credenza. I'm definitely considering the UN55H8000.

Ticking away.. the moments that make up a dull day.

Cheers

Yeah, I hear you... Luckily the stand width is not an issue for me, and picture quality wise, it does seem to be the TV to get (as even 4K sets do not seem to offer better PQ, just more pixels). I am only curious about the upcoming Vizio P, which is holding me off a bit as it would be nice to see it first before pulling the trigger... I'd hate if I spent 5 grand on a 75" F8000 only to find out a couple of weeks later that the Vizio P came out and beats it in PQ and would have costed me only 3 grand for 70" (I'm rounding up for taxes and extended warranties).

Still wondering if people are having many issues with F8000, be it TV randomly shutting off, or otherwise "misbehaving"...

So far it is very good for Amazon Prime watching. I just finished watching "Carnivale" from Amazon/HBO selection and there are a lot of night settings which showed good black views. I haven't played my PS4 yet with the setting or any blu ray movie. Thanks for the heads up.

I haven't found the ideal setting yet for gaming.. With my current setting which I use for tv/movie watching, gaming is darker than what I want.. Still playing with it.

Thanks for responses... sounds good - glad no one had anything to particularly complain about, but rather confirm good performance.
I'm giving Vizio P 2 more weeks, and if by then it's still not out and no reviews of any kind are available, I'll be pulling the trigger on the F8000...

What do F8000 owners think of the new 4K sets (HU8550 and HU9000)? Has anyone upgraded? I am looking at the 65" versions.

Once Ultra HD or 4K is available via antenna locally, then I will update my set.

I ordered my UN75F8000 from a great internet site for only $3650. I don't know if I am allowed to say who but if there is a way to private message me I will hook you up with them. Ordered on Wednesday and got it on Friday. I started to go with one of those bargain basement sites but when I read the reviews it scared me off. The potential to save $400 just wasn't worth the risk to me.

But that's not the best part, I hooked it up Saturday and I've never seen a better picture on a TV before in my life. I thought that my previous Samsung DLP had an awesome picture but this thing is as good as any 4K's that I've seen in the stores. There are a few options you need to make in the menu but for the most part it is pretty much perfect straight out of the box. One of the few changes I had to make was as it got dark yesterday the TV's picture also got darker. I found an option in the menu called Eco Sensor that I had to set to off to get the screen brightness back as bright as it had been during the day.

Anyone else seeing a better PQ since the most recent Firmware update? I have the 60F8000 and the picture seems sharper.

My current version is 1120 and it is good. I clicked the option to update but it said I was at the latest so I am assuming you just got to 1120?

Question Remote Control Stops working

My UN46F8000 has started to every once in awhile stop operating from the remote control. No matter which button I press on the remote control, I get no response. It's not the remote control itself that is the problem as neither remote that came with the set works(2 of them)nor does the FIOS remote do anything. The set mutes on it's own and that's it. The only thing I can do is pull the power plug and then plug it back in and all is well. Anyone know of any issues with the remotes? The only thing extra that I'm using is the Samsung Shape M7 bluetooth speaker with the set (as I got it for free when purchasing the set). I'm going to try and disconnect the M7 speaker and just use the TV's speakers and see if somehow that is causing the problem. Any ideas? Thanks!

Having calibrated dozens of these sets I've found that If you set your contrast above 92-94 you will lose detail by clipping brighter white levels and sometimes cause red push. I'm personally preferring 88 for maximum detail but most reviews I've read seemed to settle around 90.

Have the firmware updates stopped because this is an older set now and they want you to buy an Evolution kit to keep it up to date or is it just because they have nothing else to update on this set?
