In Canada, and just updated my 60F8000 firmware to 1203. Quickly went through the channels, smart screens. I don't know if I see any picture improvement or not. This set already has a phenomenal picture ! The pad remote though does appears to be a bit more responsive. Anyone notice improvements, enhancements with this update ?
On the opinion of 4k sets, I recently went to BB to check out these latest 4k, curved sets ...no thank you ! The 4k looks good, yes, but where is the content ? Curved ...well ok in the center I suppose, off to a viewing angle and it looks like crap.
My viewing is mostly OTA TV ...like another user said, I may considered 4k when either cheap or when TV broadcasts in 4k many years from now :P

Question, ...if there's one thing I don't like about this TV is trying to clean the screen ! What crappy material do they use ?
How are you folks cleaning it ? There was a dried spot, so, I just flicked a few drops of water with my fingers and used a hand Swiffer ...I'm very
cautious ! Ok, it's clean, but when the set is off and it's bright outside, at certain angles you can see the smudge. Not a big issue, but it peeves
me somewhat.

Thanks !

Update: Ok, I just found something in 1203 that I didn't have before. If watching a video file and there's a "folder.jpg" file in the same directory, it will display this thumbnail.

Dear all,
I deselected the BD wise setting. It seems that the picture quality improves doing that. You wil have to put the setting "movie" manually back, after doing this setting.
Anybody having the same impression?

Another question: in EU, we are still at 1108 (may 2013). When could we expect this firmware?

I don't run too may apps, but I installed CalmRadio the other day because I was looking for a nice, relaxing music app, and this is just perfect. Except - when it is running - the "picture off" option under picture settings is greyed out - which is mind-bogglingly stupid, because if I want to leave it running and play music through either the tv speakers or my receiver or my soundbar, why would I want the screen on all day long?

Please tell me there's some trick to turn off the screen while using this app. My gut is telling me it's another stupid Samsung restriction. So I have to leave the screen on all day while I listen to music in the background. Brilliant.

I'm afraid to clean my screen, so I'd like to know as well what's safe to use, considering the delicate panel and the coating they use.

Eagle2 I was curious about your TV settings but the links in your signature don't take me to your settings. Can you re-link or re-post them.

Thanks.

I fixed my links so they link correctly to my settings now. I haven't touched my settings for ages now - I'm very happy with them and I think they look spectacular - notice my settings include a tweak to disable the screen turning off with fades to black - something I used to find very annoying. The settings also minimize the screen dimming back and forth to the point where it's virtually unnoticeable most of the time. Give them a try and see what you think. I like my color saturation toned down a bit, and as it is I think the color looks fantastic with natural-looking skin tones. If you like the color saturation higher just turn it up - it won't affect any other settings. Same for the backlight. As I mention under my settings, they are based off Buzzard's settings, with a few tweaks. I use the WOW and AVS discs for the test patterns.

Still not working. Ever since the Forum Update signature links have been bad. Any way you could possibly just post them again?

Hello.
I have my tv connected to my pc using an hdmi-dvi. I was playing around in pc and game mode and i noticed something. I have an image fullscreened, the black level one from lagom.nl and in pc mode the red url text is crisp and clear. In game mode though that same text looks pixelerated.
I have tried turning of everything to no avail.
I assume the pc input is the most optimal then for using the tv for desktop/gaming then?

Try these - I just re-did the links again and tested them and they both opened up properly so hopefully this should solve it for you. They did a nice job of breaking all the links with their "improvements".

I have had the 60" TV for a couple months now and really love it.

One question I have is for the Smart APP screen. I noticed at first it had HBO Go on the main screen and near the top, then maybe about a month ago it disappeared and is only under the "more apps" section on the 2nd page. Is there a way to move it to the front page or select my favorites as I only use maybe 4 or 5 of the apps and would like quick access to them.

Yes, click on more apps then click options which is top right and then click edit my apps and then move your HBO Go to where you want it.

Would someone with the 75" be willing to measure the distance between the top VESA mounting screw holes and the top of the bezel of the TV? I'm mounting the TV just below a soffit and want to make sure I give it enough room when I install the mount.

Thanks! If you don't mind my asking, where did you buy it from? It looks like many places have very limited stock and I'm having trouble finding it from an authorized retailer.

Shopped around for a long time. Finally saw it pop it on eBay from Ritz Camera (authorized reseller) for only $3100. Since then, price has gone up... Received it 8 days after purchase here in California (shipped from NJ). I'll buy a square trade warranty to protect me for the next 5 years. So far, very happy!

Wow, that's a great price! I'll have to keep my eyes peeled for something similar.
