My 65" F8000 was beautiful for about the first month that I had it, and then started to develop what turned into this. Now that Samsung finally agreed with me that what I was seeing was NOT normal picture variations and replaced the panel just this month, the TV is once again beautiful. I still don't understand why it took them seven months to admit the problem though . . .
As far as 4K, I feel that I've been on the bleeding edge too many times in my life, and until there is 4K OTA (not gonna happen in my lifetime) I'll pass on it. Cable and Satellite can barely pass an acceptable 1080p signal as it is. And I don't by enough Blu-rays to make it worth while. JMHO.

Thanks for sharing and your perspective. I am not sure I would have had the patience you had forging the gauntlet until Samsung made good on such a blatant issue. Not to say there was much else you could have done.

I have been enjoying (and continue to ...) a 7 year old Samsung 50A650 plasma. I had it pro cal'd after the first 6 mos. and still find the picture quite stellar. It never gave me one problem either.
I can appreciate the fact that LCD technology has come a long way since those days especially in black level, etc. although I will likely always favor plasma for it's unique quality.
It seems there are more problems reported about the F8000 although it has been out a lot longer which I am sure factors into the numbers.
Curved screens are out for me and I am really on the fence about 4K. If getting 4K also means a display with maybe better specs in other areas as well I could see
it might be worth it. But there does not seem to be a very clear distinction in that respect. For certain, your source has much to do with the experience.

Yeah, the patience was hard to muster up.. The internal rage ensued every time I sat down to watch something. Usually I would end up getting distracted from the show by the glaring imperfection in the image. Now since they've finally fixed it, I feel like I need to go back and re-watch everything I've watched in the past seven months...
I had bought the Square-Trade 5 year warranty from Amazon when I purchased the set, so I always figured I would go begging to them after the Samsung warranty was up (first year) if I had to. Dunno if I would have gotten anywhere with that though . . .

I believe it's time to Overthrow VerticalScope..

WTF Samsung !!!?!? Major fail in privacy gathering every word you're saying from the TV mic.
Doesn't say anything if you have voice recognition disabled, only if you have no internet hookup

I turned off the voice activation when I bought the set.. I am sure other manufacturers who have voice activated sets also "listen".. lol

Hello All. I have had a 75F8000 with a ts01 panel since about Thanksgiving. I want to bring up black uniformity and flashlighting up again. The tv is almost perfect but i do notice two corners having an issue. The attached pic is with smart led off and back lighting at about 12 to exaggerate the issue. It is even present and noticeable with back light at 2 and smart led on. Any suggestions or comments if this is common or i should contact Samsung. The tv is wall mounted and i also wonder if the stress could cause it.

Just realised that my F8000 TV (UK) has a pending firmware update.

I am currently running v1118 but the update is for v1123.

Is there a link anywhere that tells me what is in the new firmware please?

I have Googled the version number, but can't find anything.

Thanks in advance.

I don't know if there's a list of fixes available, but I updated my 65" about two weeks ago to v1206 and haven't noticed any issues. I don't recall which version I had prior to the update, but I had not updated the firmware since last April.

I did notice that now image settings seem to be retained for each individual input.. so if you use for instance "Standard" for different inputs, "Standard" for each input can contain different picture settings and the TV seems to remember them. I don't know when this change occurred, if it was just in the last update of some prior update that I skipped.

I believe it's time to Overthrow VerticalScope..

I am using 1206 , I got it last week.

I have been around since 1101 and non of them really make that much of a change.

Samsung will tell you improved pic quality , better WiFi , more overall stability.

The only one that did a see - able difference was 1204 ? the one that changed the Smart Hub.

Either way the tv itself will work or it won`t work , all the updates in the world can`t fix a broken tv , or make a great tv better.

Basically , very slight performance touch-ups that you might pass off as an atmospheric anomaly if you still used an antenna !!

Does the 55" F8000 use an 8 or 10 bit panel and is it a samsung mfrd. lcd panel. I have a UN55F8000 Bfxza model with a US02 panel. Ive been thinking of selling it because of panel lotteries and i'm noticing color banding with a little dither on screen. Also is it a pva or s-pva panel.

No issues here. I noticed the Smart Hub added the Milk Music app automatically after the update, but other than that, my TV settings were left intact.

This morning I had F8000 "melt - down" number 2 ( second time this has happened ).

I have my apps set so I decide what gets updated , thats important info.

Turn on tv , went to a weather app , smart hub started to delete and update all by it self , all I did turn was turn to the apps pane.

After the melt-down , Amazon Instant Vid did not work , Pandora was gone / Cloud-Me / Crackle / Fox Boston / Q-TV and a bunch of others , all gone.

Tried YT , I was logged out , had to log back in , once I downloaded the other missing apps , had to sign in ( like new user because the F8000 wiped the SH memory.

Could not do anything at first , ( Samsung s servers were overrun ) came back after in a couple of hours was able to reset YT ( you have to do it twice ) and AIV was working again , curious VUDU was not affected , worked right after that melt-down.

It could be a one set only issue , if so I have gotten pretty good at fixing it , but the two times it has happened Samsung`s severs were off line , could not even login.

OK__ so if anyone else has had this much fun ( NOT ) please post.

It IS NOT related to ant software or firmware update IE; 1206 did not cause this.

Still rebuilding what was wiped out

OK__ post if need be , other wise , I hope this does not happen to you , it is a pain

Actually, there's a recent update for smaller models, mine being a 46" F8000.

Not sure what you mean with this post? Feel free to clarify for me.

I just copy/pasted the firmware update fix description from the Samsung website. This update covers all screen sizes of the F8000 model along with F7450, F7500 and F7550 models.

Hi ,

I have a 46" as well and just checked "Software Update" and it stated "you have the latest software" = 1206.3 ...

If you are talking about what happened yesterday , it was a meltdown , Samsung took over the smart-hub , or the severs were hacked or both , like I posted it was the second time it has happened to me personally.

If you go to the app store you will notice a ton of apps with a 1/21/15 date , even though they have been around for years , something is cooking , but as usual Samsung has no knowledge of what they do.

"Samsung , The Smart Company " yah right !!

My 55" TS01 from March of 2013 (if I remember correctly, I'm not with the TV right now) is nearly flawless except for some slight pinching at the bottom two corners. They are usually most noticeable during the winter when the room is naturally cooler and when the TV is just turned on. After a while it warms up and that bit of expansion is enough to flatten the tiny flashlights out to not be very noticeable. Samsung struggles with uniformity around the bottom corners for some reason. I've tried all sorts of things, loosening the screws around the area, massaging, but it's always there unfortunately. It has something to do with how the layers are bonded together and how well it sits within the set's frame/construction. Not much you can do from the outside to remedy it.

As far as flashlighting within the screen I suppose massaging is the best you can do. It does seem like wall mounting can exacerbate the flashlighting a little by applying pressure on the panel. Just like a Jenga tower, you don't know which parts of the structure are bearing the most stress even though it appears to be a flush structure from afar.

The F8000 TS01 was the original panel that reviewers praised for its good uniformity. I suppose you could take it off the wall mount for a week or two, massage the screen a little, and see if it clears up at all. If there are still issues you could perhaps convince Samsung to do a panel replacement or something to help it. I'm not experienced with uniformity, just thought I'd give some suggestions and thoughts for you.

The current F8000 I have is actually my second. The first one had tiny air bubbles in the screen that gave the appearance of dead pixels even though the pixels were working, it's just that the air and separation of the layers blocked a lot of the light. There's always the chance that you get a panel with problems, if you've had it for a while and the issue has gone unnoticed for a few months, then that may be a good sign that the issue is very small.

For example, my current F8000 that I've loved and continue to love for over a year and a half hit a bump in the relationship this December when I realized that the left and right sides have a ever so slight pinkish tint to them. After looking at an old picture of an all white screen on my set and increasing the color saturation in photoshop revealed that the slight pinkish tint was always there from the beginning and yet I went almost a year and a half without ever noticing it. I was pretty upset to realize the issue being well outside of Samsung's warranty but it's not the end of the world, it's just a TV. A couple little issues here and there don't negate the fact that the F8000 was and still is one of the best performing LED televisions to date. As long as those issues are not visible or apparent for 95%+ of the content being displayed, then I would be okay.

Dark scenes are extremely challenging for LED televisions in general and the F8000 is one of the best dark performers with its Smart LED dimming. The F8000 actually beats my F8500 plasma's black level in extremely dark scenes. What I've been doing is turning on my warm alter lights at night. This warm bias light really helps the black level appear darker in general. Perhaps some bias light could help out with making the blacks appear deeper and thus hiding the flashlighting even more; because the flashlighting can't be seen during the day or when the room is brightly lit, right?

Same annoying problem here. Couldn't figure out how to permanently accept/ignore the message either. Might have to wait until the service signature ends on April 1st.

I've seen the message also for about the past 2 weeks. I disappears on its own after a few seconds without having to click "Ok". I'm hoping after April 1st it stops randomly appearing . . .

Is anyone using "Samsung Smart View 1.0" with their TV and their Samsung phone? I had been using it with my UN65F8000 and my Samsung S5 phone, but since the Lollipop upgrade to my phone last weekend the Smart View app crashes every time it tries to connect to the TV. Has anyone found a solution to this?

I believe it's time to Overthrow VerticalScope..
and Bring Back Huddler!

OK---

I have gotten the same message , this time , and it goes away by itself.

Is states to hit the center or "OK" button to learn more info.

If you don`t want to know more , you don`t have to. !!

Bottom line is ; this is not the first time Samsung has pulled this crap , last year they did the same thing for the Smart Hub overhaul , but it never happened until it was too later and it caught most people off guard.

Truly , this IS something to worry about , Samsung has a very nasty habit of ruining ones day by first turn on of the day surprises.

On more than one occasion my whole app section went screwy , and I had to reset just about all my apps.

I have little doubt that on or shortly after , when we are lulled into a false sense of happiness , that an electron bomb will hit the F8000`s , again , and give everyone who cares a very hard day.

Just make sure your laptops are charged and ready to go , there will be a lot of codes to enter.

I just love Samsung , don`t you ?
