yeah I hear you. it probably won't show up on the beach pic. you can't see it in bright scenes (or dark scenes). only on plain mid tone colors.
Its just disctracting when it shows up. and for that price you'd expect not to have this issue...
So it doesn't seem that this was a common issue. I was wondering if it could be something I could fix easily. even if its just replacing the T-con board.

I can't answer that one. Try some of those AVS calibration screens that I linked you to. If you can't make the DVD then just download the mp4's and run them from a USB flash drive plugged directly into the TV. Try different colors and different intensities of each color to determine at exactly what point it appears. Unfortunately I think if it never looks any worse than it does in your posted picture Samsung is going to be of little help. The worse if looks, the better the outcome will be for you. The problem in my picture was not always as bad as it appears there. It got worse over time. Samsung did NOTHING until it became unbearably bad. But even at that point there were times/colors/brightness levels where the issue would all but disappear.

I can tell you that a replacement screen costs about $1280, and the old "core" screen gets you back about $300 when returned to Samsung. I know this because I saw the service tech's invoice for the screen when he replaced mine.

I believe it's time to Overthrow VerticalScope..

It's a shame that in the end TCU's playoff chances all came down to this . . .

I'm sure this might have been discussed already, but out of curiosity, will the F8000 be able to get the 2015 Tizen evolution kit? If not it's a real kick in the head, considering Samsung promised we would be able to upate the processor, interface, etc. for several years after purchase. From what I read a few months ago they didn't believe Tizen would work with "older" tvs like the F8000.

"Owners of prior-year Samsung smart TVs, such as 2013 and 2012, won't be able to upgrade to Tizen, the company said. Still, Samsung plans to keep updating and supporting apps for its older smart TVs, Stinziano said Monday."

Could be wishful thinking on my part but I interpret that to mean you won't get Tizen without adding a new Evo KIT to your TV. I've seen sites claiming there will be a 2015 evo kit coming for the F8000 so it's still possible in my opinion.

Here's a link to someone that indicates they'll be selling an SEK 3000 that supports the F8000

And another

That's the way I read it as well. But I don't put much faith in Samsung to actually make it happen. I bought a "future proof" TV in 2002 (before HDMI). HDMI came out in 2003. Do you think my $6000 "future proof" TV ever saw HDMI???

Samsung sent me via postal mail their extended warranty protection plan.

Did anybody purchase the "Samsung Protection Plus" plan? Is it worth it?

I received that also.. 2 or 3 times in recent months. I had bought the SquareTrade 5-year warranty thru Amazon when I bought the TV so I have no interest in the Samsung extension. Besides, the Samsung plan seemed very expensive compared to the SquareTrade plan I have.

In terms of push back.. They say, they can't fix (blah blah blah) to whatever reason, would squaretrade be better to resolve issues or Samsung or both will try to push back?

I don't have warranty claims experience with SquareTrade, but I've heard good things about them. OTOH, it took me seven months of itching with a "B" to get Samsung to repair my 65F800 when it developed a nasty blotch in the screen image when it was only 6 weeks old . . .

Yea , I have gotten them too.

What Samsung charges for an extended warranty , I mean geez , just save the money and roll the dice.

I have had mine repaired under warranty , so it would come in handy , but now the tv is 2+ years old , so in my book , any warranty at this point would be a waste.

Good point. If something broke and was too expensive to fix, might as well get a new tv! Prices have been going down every year.

Looking for a 60" or 65" and see they have a few on Amazon used/Certified Refurbished. Has anyone been down that road and would they do it again?

eHi ,

I don`t think it would be Amazon who is the seller , so I would not.
If it is on Amazon`s web site , they will help you in the event problem , however I would never buy a refurbished anything.

Why would someone sell a great tv ?

Just like a used car , I personally would not go there.

I just got a un65f8000 as a project TV. I'm pretty sure the panel is bad because it's doing vertical colored lines on it. I found a replacement panel but it's $1600. Does anyone know if I can get a less quality panel that will still work for it?

Hi ,

I don`t think so , unlike most tv companies , Samsung uses in house panels for there LED/LCD tv`s.

Some "off brands" i.e. Sears etc. get there panels from either Samsung or LG.

Even Apple uses Samsung or LG panels in there MBP`s , mine has an LG !

So getting an off brand you might end up with an LG panel in a Samsung tv , heck , it might work , but I don`t think so , as the panels are governed by the Main Board.
