Great, thank you!

Is there any difference in tinting between those Panasonic glasses and the Samsungs? I'm wondering if I'll have to make any adjustments to my color settings if I switch to the Panasonics.

I have not changed any of my settings, it looks fine with the glasses that came with the tv and the Panasonics. There is a slight difference though. I calibrate using the Spears & Munsil disk.

Hi ,

It should work , I have a Galaxy Note 2014 Ed. , and it works just fine.

I don`t use it very much , as I have a Mac Mini hooked up to my F8K , and being a 10" tablet , it`s a little clumsy to use as a controller.

It has come in handy a few times , though.

Hi ,

No app . mine did the 2 way thing automatically , ,however I did name my device.

Maybe you just need to give a name or a path of communication.

I honestly don`t remember , but I think once it saw the tablet , it just did it`s thing.

Good luck , sorry I can`t be of more help __ O try "Allshare" on the F8K network menu. , that might get you hooked up.

I use this app to mirror from the F8000 to my Galaxy S5.

To mirror from the phone to the TV all you gotta do is turn on Screen Mirroring on the phone and and on the TV (under networking).

I believe it's time to Overthrow VerticalScope..

All I can tell you is that it works fine for mine.. Galaxy S5 and UN65F8000. I use it often.

The link I provided is to Samsung Smart View 1.0 ---- which works with Samsung TV's thru the 2013 models including the F8000. If you tried version 2.0 it will not work with an F8000, as it only supports 2014 and newer Samsung TV's.

Maybe I am wrong , but I really don`t remember doing much more than giving Allshare a name for my GN-2014.

Have you set you your "dropbox" account ?

Samsung stuff seems to like clouds and social media

I only revert back to naming the device because , like I said , I have a Mac Mini hooked up to my F8K , and when I named it a "PC" no audio would get passed via HDMI , even the upper level brainy meatballs at Samsung told me there was no way I could ever get sound or any audio via HDMI from a Mac Mini.

I did not buy into that , there had to be a way , a simple way.

Guess what ? there was , all I did was call it anything other than a PC , I called it DMA , and went to my Mac`s Sys. Pref. and open the sound panel and set it up and there was { is } sound !!!

Now , I am sure those "very smart people" at Samsung , have most of the answers , but , sometimes not !

Good luck , and just keep posting , most of us have been down the golden path of self destruction with Samsung , only to find the help we needed was here all a long !

Attempting to watch X-Files on Amazon Prime on the 65F8000 tonight.. no dice. Netflix works, web browser works, didn't try any of the other other apps. Amazon Prime just goes into space with a black screen,,, no log, no hourglass, no nuttin'

I checked for a firmware update.. it says I'm up to date there. It Amazon Prime working for you on an F8000?

EDIT: It looks like you've helped me out. Thanks! I've never forced an app update that I can recall. But I updated Amazon (I think), although it happened so quickly I'm not sure it really did anything. Then Amazon appeared to be gone from my apps group, but looking around in the "Samsung Apps" I got it to reappear. Anyway now it works... so thanks again!

I am also having the same problem with Amazon App after I updated the firmware to the latest version. I tried to reinstall the Amazon app but I can't find a way to do that yet. Any help would be very appreciated. In addition, I have been trying to get the TV to passthrough DTS-HD or DolbyTrueHD from my mkv back up. But, it won't do it. The TV doesn't recognize the format and won't pass it thru the ARC HDMI to my receiver. Any thought?

I "updated" the Amazon app from within the Smart TV functions, it's separate from the firmware update. I'm at my office so I can't say for sure, but I think it was under on of the choices at the very top of the screen. The update happened so quickly I'm not sure if it really did anything. But after that the Amazon app was gone, then it reappeared after I clicked on it under "Samsung Tools" (or "Samsung Apps") within the Smart TV functions. After that the app worked fine.

Yes , sadly Amazon Instant Video service IS messing up again.

The bandwidth needed to stream 1080p is so great , and so many people are using AIV , between the high demand and needed high bandwidth the picture will {does} fluctuate from 1080p < HD < SD < pixelated.

My F8K is getting a little over 20MBP download and that should be more than enough for 1080p , and at times it is , and at time I still see a quality drop from 1080p to HD , sometimes it never kicks into 1080p and just stay on HD , or worse.

I have bought cloud based movies from Amazon , and they must be on a separate server because I can start any of the shows in "My Library" , and they start out and stay at 1080p.

It is the "Prime" movies and show that are taking the biggest hit.

This sort of problem has cropped up in the past a usually goes away on it`s own , however sadly it will come back and is an ongoing problem.

That is why I suggest VUDU , as it does not require the bandwidth needed for HDX ( 1080p ) that AIV needs.
I have over 130 movies and shows that I have either bought or converted from dvd to HDX and sometimes it takes a couple of seconds to lock onto 1080p ( HDX ) , but once there it is stable.

The other good thing is it`s Ultra-Violet friendly , so if you buy a BD , like "Fast and Furious 7 " and it has that code in the case , then just use your computer to type in the code and now you have it in the cloud as well.

Disney movies are more involved , but doable , I have "Need For Speed" in VUDU`s cloud , even though it is not a UV disc , you just have to do a few more extra steps and chose one cloud instead of many as with UV. ( you can chose Flixster , M-Go , VUDU , etc. , but just one , whereas UV it is one and all. ( once linked ) .

OK___ sorry for the long reply , but I guess you guy`s are used to it by now !! LOL

I also have noticed the Amazon Prime app hasn't been great lately, anytime I FF/REW it's choppy/slow even x16 speed and then after I hit play it takes 5-10 seconds before the quality improves from SD looking to HD. On my sony blu-ray player the issue turns into videos just stop playing. Both devices are hard wired into a 50mbps down internet connection.

I have emailed Amazon about my sony countless times and they always point the finger somewhere else but I have done all kind of tests and IMO the issue seems to be with Amazon cloud servers being over taxed.

Hi ,

Yes , open your Smart Hub > goto Apps >open WebBrowser , then type in "speedtest.net" , it will take a while to load because the F8K does not do flash ( I am surprised it works at all ) , once it loads use either remote to navigate closest sever and you will get a close idea of what your F8000 is receiving for speed.

It is not perfect , but it is the only gauge we have other than pressing the status key and clicking the network icon at the top of the screen.

As far as the other info I provided , that comes from my experience , both good and bad , with online streaming of media.

I hope this helps , I understand the frustration , you pay for something , it states something , but you can`t get what they are offering.

Years ago , before broadband , it was type in a web address and go for lunch , and hope it loaded by the time you got back !

Take care ,

G. 

Last night I even got an "Insufficient Network Speed" box pop up from Amazon after a video froze.

I am sure that Amazon does not like this any more than we do , however they could do more by adding more severs and having dedicated severs for HD + 1080p , and have another set of servers to handle the SD stuff , that would eliminate the "bottle-neck" issue.

Best of luck guy`s , but I am right there with you , suffering the same frustration

Take care

Haha... Many years before THAT it was a good bit faster, because everything was text based. My first modem was a 110bps direct connect (to a telephone receiver jack, no acoustic coupler needed!). Used that for local BBS's. Then I graduated to CompuServe and a 300bps Hayes Smartmodem. CompuServe cost $25 per hour back then to use at 300bps. Later when I got my Hayes 1200bps Smartmodem I could connect much faster... but at a $75 hourly fee if I connected during the daytime

For the record, I still have the Hayes 1200.. it's sitting on a shelf here in my office.
