My experience of the SEK2000 install
I received and installed my SEK2000 into my F8000 last night. Before I started, I did record all my settings for that "just in case" moment. Once it updated and moved most setup settings into the new module, I noticed the following changes.
After the install the first thing I noticed was all my blacks were a dark brown. Before too long I narrowed it down that my White Balance was really off. Before the install, I had both the 2-point and 10-point White Balance calibration settings set and used. (I also noticed too a change to the 2-point scale that was changed to -50-to-+50. But the conversion process did change my original settings to the equivalent settings on the new scale. Basically it takes your old setting, say 16, and it will now become -35 = -50+16.) A lot of my initial settings came from our friend buzzard767 in this forum. After experimenting, I noticed that if I reset the White Balance 2-point settings back to default of all 0's (but leaving the 10-point alone), my colors (and the blacks) returned to normal. I am still looking into this as I don't have a comfy feeling about this. But if I think about it, it could make sense.
I also notice now that if you enabled LED Clear Motion under the AMP Custom settings, it will disabled both the Blur and Judder Reduction settings. Before the SEK2000 install that did not happen.
I still like my old Samsung remote (the long one) and not the new egg-shaped remote that came with the kit. Unfortunately, the Netflix button now does not work with the new Smart Hub software. That also caused my universal remote that had an activity button to start up/shutdown Netflix to no longer work either. Bummer. You now have to navigate through the new Smart Hub to start Netflix and others. Does not seem to have a shortcut to start Netflix that I know of.
If you want to change the name of an input, you now have to highlight the input source and then hold down the select button on the remote until a menu popups for you to edit the name. You can only can now pick from a known list of static names provided and not be able to create/input your own name like say "Soundbar", "DirecTV" like before. Another bummer.
One good thing is that if you have your F8000 set to use external speakers (now called Audio Out), and you attempt to use a TV remote to adjust the sound, you now can disable the popup of the message that explains to you to use the external remote to control your sound. No biggie, but a change.
That's it for now. I'm sure I'll find more things in the coming days.
