The Dev kits are shipping now with 720p but the final consumer version will be 1080p. Will the Oculus Rift be the way we see Movies in the future?

For personal 3D gaming and virtual reality, awesome! For having your friends over to watch a film - yeah, not so great.

Looks expensive too.

Dev kit is 300$ and the consumer version 1080p will be 200-250$. I agree that it's a personal viewer but the immersion IMHO is worth that is only for 1 person at a time.

This would be fun for Gaming ONLY. It would never work for a Home Theater Movie experience.
