Does anyone have any idea how these two sets will compare? I don't believe the W802 is available in the U.S. as of today, but I thought that perhaps someone might have seen some advance reviews.

Thanks in advance for any info you might have on how these sets compare.

I don't consider this a grudge match at all really. The HX850 is a much much better HDTV then the W802. Black levels alone on the HX850 bury the W802's black levels by a mile. There is no comparison to be honest......the HX850 wins hands down.

Set up a new KDL47W802A in my den today - received from Sony customer service on a out-of-warranty compromise/trade in on my (panel died) KDL46HX820. Oh how I miss the HX820!! Run, don't walk, from the 802 as fast as you can. This is a "push here, dummy" set for a young family wanting to experience the novelty of 3-D and very little else. The guts of the 802 seem missing!! Picture cannot escape appearing way too coated with make-up, it is dim, the remote has been stripped of expected/conventional functionality and the passive 3-D un impressive.
