just bought it and like it alot did not want edge lit flashliighting and this has very even back levels. tv automatically updated firmware on second day and netflix worked and wireless was much stronger. looks betterthan my sharp which failed . my settings :

basic settings
movie
backlight 50
bright 52
contrast 60
color 40
tint -6
sharpness 2

color serrings
normal

advanced picture
nr off
mpg reduction low
color enhanc off
lumina low
film mode auto
smart dim on
ambiant light low

I thought that when smart dimming was enabled that also enabling lumina helped

I purchased this TV this past Thursday and it's a good improvement from my 40" Phillips. Only problem is that I notice a faint ring of light around the screen during dark or black images. I tested to make sure it wasn't just the movie I was watching and uploaded a black screen and displayed it on the TV.

I was under the impression that this TV couldn't get that ghosting/halo effect with blacks? Any ideas on video settings that may help!

hello. i have this tv and actually so far I havent seen anything remarkable about it...I have a a hannspree 42" 1080p 120hz and i seem to have a much better picture than on the vizio. maybe my settings are not correct may because of the larger screen im deaing more grainyness (if that is a word). Also how can I tell I have true 120hz? Im used to having the soap opera effect on my Hannspree which can easily be turned of by changing the "vivid motion" setting. The vizio has a "film mode" but I see no difference when turning it from "auto" to "off"... to me having the option to turn the soap opera effect lets me know I have true 120hz...any advise? Thanks.

Thanks. tried that..nothing. I read a thread stating that some vizio tv dont not really offer 120hz so it states that its "effective refresh rate" which is misleading..im lugging this thing back to walmart ...

Picked up this set on black Friday. So far I'm very impressed. I'm still dialing in some setings but so fast it's great.
