Forgive me if this question has been asked before as I don't frequent this thread nor do I have the time to read all 100+ pages. I run all sources through my Denon AVR-2809 in my secondary theater which also incorporates my Samsung 7100. When I switch sources it takes an extra second or two for the Denon to make the switch. In the interim the Samsung knows it isn't receiving a signal HDMI and this little 'warning screen' pops up telling me so (and I have to select 'ok' for it to go away). Is there a way to get this little notification pop-up screen to go away entirely? It's rather annoying as I routinely switch between TV, Xbox 360, and Xbox One (and I don't run my cablebox through my Xbox One).

Hi all. I'm looking to spend in the $1500-1600 range, no more than $1700 max. I'm leaning towards the Samsung UN60F7100 that's on the Black Friday sale. Is there a better choice in this price range? Only thing I don't like is that the 60" has the wider bezel. Sort of crazy that the 55" and the 65" have the narrow bezel and the 60" has the wide bezel. Otherwise, they seem to be the same. Are there other TV's I should consider in this price range?

I do want to use mine as a picture frame, and I know Samsung TV's don't support this. I think either Sharp or LG do. But I called Samsung yesterday and they told me I could just display one picture and it would not burn the TV screen. That sounds crazy. But they said there was no need to run a slide show of pictures if I didn't want to do so. I could just leave one picture on the screen. Does that sound right?? I assumed I would have to burn some pics to DVD and run the slideshow from the BluRay player to feed the TV.

Just saw the 65" at BB. The tv itself is stunnin! Sexy even! But the only thing they had running is the Samsung loop on the tv, which is useless. I don't know why they do that (I do actually) but with buyers getting more sophisticated you'd think they'd just out in a top quality BD. So any comparisons were pointless however, even the loop feed was beautiful and if nothing else shows what the set is capable of. The area that I was in (or it was in) was pretty low lighting for a store so I think I was able to get a good feel for what the screen looks like. There were no glaring issues like some have reported and even off axis viewing I thought was really good. Never seen anything that white on a tv before! Wow!

Hi I've been looking for something to replace my LG 50PS60 and have been looking at the 7100/7050 for a while. I noticed a recent price drop and Its time to pull the trigger. I was at costco and noticed its the 7050 not 7100. Ive looked up the specs on the samsung site and it seems to be the same. Does anyone know what the differences are if any?

I thought the 7050 included a wireless keyboard.

Shouldn't the TV settings be specific to the user and the room that the TV is in?

Just ordered 2 of these off Amazon! I have been a long time plasma watcher but since they seem to be going away in lue of LED and other styles I thought I would try these out.

I noticed that sharpness is not completely turned off in Game Mode.... all settings are off or at 0, and yet I can tell that sharpness is turned on as some black objects have halos...

I'm looking at the 46" f640o and the f7100. Can anyone offer advice on the clear screen on the 7100? Is it more reflective? If it's glossy wouldn't it have more trouble with reflections? My room isn't super bright but there are a lot of windows. I'm not sure if it's worth the extra money for the 7100 if it'll have more glare.

From what I've read, the 7100 has less glare. But I haven't looked at them side by side. Just what I've read.

I apologize if this has been covered, but I did try searching the forum before posting.  Can anyone provide guidance on how to use the Smart Touch remote to control a DirecTV DVR without using the More button?  I found that swiping across the top of the touch pad from left to right will start fast forward and swiping right to left will start rewind.  For each subsequent swipe, it increases the speed from 1 to 2 to 3 to 4.  However, I can't figure out how to resume play or to pause during play.  I can revers swipe back from 4 to 3 to 2 to 1 to play, but that is more tedious than using the More button.

I did find that swiping the middle of the pad from left to right acts like the right button on the DTV remote and brings up DTV TV apps.  Swiping from bottom to top brings up DTV fav channels.  Swiping from top to bottom invokes Double Play (I think).  Swiping from right to left is like a DTV back command.

So, almost everything, but Play and Pause are eluding me!

Try bringing up the onscreen remote that has play stop rec etc. by pressing more on the remote ...that should enhance DVR control.Rmember that even the onscreen remote has three different feature sets that u can toggle by swiping side to side ...Hope this works!!

Thanks.  I know the More button is available, but my question was related to the fact that there are several swipes that can be made on the touch pad to control playback without having to use the More button.  I am asking if anyone has determined how to pause and play using the touch pad without using the More button.

Thanks. This has been my problem. Stores near me don't have them near each other. Also they have very little light in the tv sections which makes it hard to judge.

Hi,

I'm a new member and I just purchased the Samsung UN65F7100AFXZA last night after looking for a new TV and my eyes just kept coming back to the F7100 on display in Best Buy.  The picture is phenomenal but I wanted to make sure I'm not missing anything when it comes to the calibration.  I followed the settings at the link below:

http://reviews.lcdtvbuyingguide.com/samsung-lcd-tv/samsung-f7100-picture-settings.html

However, on the 10 pt white balance there are two 2's and two 6's.  Are they typos for 3 and 8?

I also have a few more questions if anybody has time to answer:

1 - It seems like my TV didn't have the same exact setting modes.  For example, I believe the MPEG Noise filter was missing.  Am I just looking in the wrong spot?

2 - Are those calibrations mainly for watching blu-ray movies?  Should I switch to Natural or Standard when watching TV and are there calibrations for those settings?  The guy at Best Buy said to keep it off Dynamic because it would ruin the TV by burning out the LEDs.

3 - When watching a blu-ray should the picture mode be Screen Fit or 16:9?  And is there a way to make sure it stays that way after I switch out of the blu-ray player input so next time I put a movie in it will go to the correct picture mode?

I apologize for all the questions but I just want to make sure I'm getting the best possible picture.

Thanks!

I just purchased this TV yesterday and I'm messing around with everything you can do with it.  It seems like there is so many things you can do, i haven't even touched the surface of it.  One thing I want to figure out is the PIP.  I see how to turn it on, which seems way too long to do by the way, there should just be a quick button to push to turn it on...  I can't figure out how to change the channel on the PIP, every time I change the channel is changes it on both the main screen and the PIP.  Can someone please help me??

Also, if anyone has any tips on other things you can do with this TV please let me know.  I would appreciate it!

I got 7050 65" from Costco few weeks back. so far it is a beauty. one issue i see though is using the samsung keyboard. It is very very slow to react and each key stroke somehow is adding 2 char specially when i'm entering a password for a site. have you guys noticed that? is that common issue or i have a defective keyboard?

Also can someone point me to how to get to the screen where i can see if there is any clouding or banding? thanks a bunch in advance

Has anyone tried the calibration settings found here?

My set is coming in about a week, so I'm looking for the best settings.

It sounds to me like you are running an antenna or coax cable from the wall into the 75 ohm RF connector on the back, since both the main window and the PIP window change together.

Your TV needs two signal sources, one for the main window and one for the PIP window. So you need to run a satellite or cablebox signal into your TV's HDMI connector which you select for viewing in the main window. Then, since your TV will only display a picture from Samsung's integrated tuner, connect an antenna to the 75 ohm RF connector on the TV, or split your cable before the box and run the second coax cable into the RF input.

Unfortunately, if you have Comcast splitting the cable won't work because they are now encrypting the signal on the coax. Possible other cable companies are not yet doing this, and, in those cases, you'll be able to watch local broadcast channels in the PIP window.

What is the best secure wall mount for the 60"? Does it sit right up against the wall or is there some space/clearance behind the TV?

I use a Logitech Wireless Keyboard & it works just fine. Check your System settings and go to the Device Manager. Find the Keyboard settings and make sure the correct type of keyboard is selected. Also under Keyboard Options, the correct keyboard Type "US" should be selected. If all these settings are ok but you still are having issues, try another set of batteries. If that doesn't help, exchange your keyboard & try again. Hope this helps the keyboard issue.wink.gif

Geek Squad... You laugh? This dude really seemed to know his stuff, explained everything along the way, and I watched his PC when he was dialing in color with the sensor and everything he adjusted came within the little demarcated ranges that were present on the calibration program.

TV: Samsung UN60F7100
Panel: HH01 (Apparently Sharp?)
Firmware: 1116 (Calibrated on this..)
Picture Mode: Cal-Day (See how to enable this..)
My panel has about 750 hours on it at the time of calibration. Set was manufactured in May of 2013.

Enabling the two additional picture modes: CAL-DAY and CAL-NIGHT

Enter the service mode:

As far as I know, you need a full remote to do this. I couldn't make it work with my Harmony, but I used one of my other Sammy remotes that came with my UN46C6400 or UN19C4300

TV OFF
Press Mute, 1, 8, 2, Power.

Each button press is sequential, that is you press it and let it go. You don't hold them all down at once.

The TV will turn on and display the service menu after a few minutes. BE CAREFUL with what you change in here. You can seriously mess up your display.

Use the directional keys and scroll down to SVC and press enter. In SVC, you should see a menu setting for "Expert Mode" - Turn this on. Ensure that Hotel Mode and Shop Mode are off. (Hotel mode resets all settings every 10 minutes. Shop mode resets settings after every power on / off event).

You may be tempted to do a factory reset. Note that this will reset the odometer on your panel, as well as "purchased on" date that displays in the first menu displayed in the service menu. It probably resets other stuff, good or bad. Proceed with caution.
Settings:

Picture Mode: CAL-Day
Backlight - 14
Contrast - 89
Brightness: 40
Sharpness: 22

That's about it. After viewing the TV on any of the included modes, except for Movie, these settings will maybe look a little bland. However, I really got used to them quick. I also noticed that there's no more color over saturation that leads to loss of detail that I saw on the other modes.

Hope you enjoy - If you have good luck with these let me know!

I don't have my f7100 or f7050 yet, but was wondering what people thought about these calibration settings. I find it odd that he was nice enough to post extensive calibration settings that he paid for, and yet there wasn't any feedback from anyone. Has anyone tried these settings?

Is it possible to change the resolution of an input on the TV side? For example, I tried hooking a Wii set to 480p and while it displayed, it looked horrible and the set reported that it was 720p. I couldn't find any way to make it change.

Just picked one up from Costco, 55", $1279. I'm already in love with the features. Other TV is an old 67" Samsung DLP I bought in 2007, haven't even had to replace the light tunnel! Hopefully, my replacement for that will be a Samsung big 4k...

For now thought, this 7100 is in the Den next to the fireplace. I'd like to wall-mount it, and I'm looking at this inexpensive Cheetah mount. Since the TV is only 36lbs, I'm thinking this will work fine, but I wanted to see if anyone else was using it.
