I see no trailing via. Xbox360.

Other than Game Mode, do you change anything else when you play videogames compared to TV/movie watching? Do you recommend deactivating the SmartHub to improve the gaming experience?

I'm hoping the 7100 plays nice with my 6.5 year old Onkyo 805 receiver (HDMI v1.1). I plan on using an HDMI splitter to send the signal from my PS3 to both the 7100 (video) and Onkyo (audio). I just hope the full HDMI signal doesn't clash with my receiver processing the LPCM audio.

Do you have HDMI Black Level set to Normal with the PS3 outputting RBG Color Space.

Try to disable all Dynamic Contrast, Black Tone, Digital Clean View, MPEG and Cinema Black Settings.

Maybe the PS3 is the cause.....

"I'm interested in your opinions as to any difference in picture quality between the F6300 and F7100, and exactly what that difference is."

Good question. A best buy guy at Samsung said there's a higher contrast ratio b/n the 7100 and the 6300. On the closed loom demos, both tvs look identical so it's hard to know for sure.

Anyone know if there is, in fact, a noticeable difference in picture quality in the 7100 over the 6300?

I have black levels at normal and ps3 set at limited not full RGB. I had this issue with an old samsung non smart set and tried everything you suggested.

According to the reviewer from television info:

"The major difference between the Samsungs is going to be in processing and features, though, you can expect similar color/contrast results from the flagship F8000 down to the F5000."

Do we take that to mean that on a PQ basis, the 6300 will net about the same quality picture as the 7100??

HDMI black level should be set to Low, which corresponds to limited/video levels on the PS3 and other devices. At least that's how it looks best with my 75F6400.

Has anyone really compared the 7000 series panels to the 6000 series F panels? For the T series panels, the ones manufactured by Samsung (40,46,55"), are they using the same panel for the 5000,6000, 7000, and 8000 series? Or it is truely a different panel?

I just acquired the CostCo UN557050, at Costco's deal of the week $1549 if I recall. Now the TV is an ultraslim, and carries a bunch of extra crap u really don't need, 3D, a Wireless Keyboard, smart remote. I just want a damn good picture.

Can I get that by dropping down to the 6350 in a 55"? Is it the same picture, cause the picture, once I tweaked it is awesome(I know not as good as a plasma, but..).

One thing I did notice was the scaling of SD content, this panel scales it all the way out to the edges. A 5500 I had doesn't do that, it pretty much leaves it in the center of the screen in 16:9 mode, and if u tell it to zoom, it's a bit odd.
My old 46lN750 did it similar to this 7050, and I must say it's very nice. So I guess this is a featue only available in the 7000 series? Can anyone confirm?

So my real question is? can I get this same picture on a 6350 F series sammy? Or do you really get better picture processing, and panel when you move up to the 7000/8000 series. not owning a 6000 I haven't a clue.

Costco has the 55" UN556350 going on sale this thursday for $1099, so that would save $500, but what do I give up in picture quality as I dont care about all the compuer esque crap and 3d it comes with. Thin is nice, but if I can save $500?

Thoughts?

What are all the extra processing settings that I should turn off while watching cable tv? I know to turn off the smoothing motion setting. Channels are looking kind of grainy the last couple of days I was watching tv and it wasnt like that before then. I checked all my cables to make sure none were loose.

While your suggestions helped with reducing the trailing the picture is completely flat and washed out. It appears like I have the brightness cranked even with it at 47.

Washout is most, likely from a mismatch in levels from source to display.

Are you a PS3 owner? Do you have any suggestions to help remedy this issue before I pack up the set? Movies on this set are suck, but I game 95% of the time. I love everything about this set except the trailing during games, not film.

It does appear that this issue that is plaging a few sets could be a hardware issue . I would suggest not waiting for a new Firmware update since things are going backwards. The bouncing balls issue could hardly be firmware related or you would think that many others would also see the issue. My TV now power re-cycles while watching Cable in Component Mode, not HDMI 2 only as I first had thought. I guessing the 2nd generation Main board was released for a good reason. I would not be supprised to see those bouncing balls any day my self. In my case, Im going to keep the TV and have it repaired to get back that "killer" picture I still have until the TV overheats or power re-cycles. I believe almost every TV out there has some issue with the current technology and none are perfect. My goal is to get one as close as possible to that with good reliability for several years down the road. My D-6000 was really GREAT for 18 months until the panel seperated at the top of the screen.

The televisioninfo.com review said the 7100 had a 31 degree viewing angle.

Have you 7100 owners out there noticed a significant lapse in picture quality from side angles?

The off-angle viewing is dimmer-but way better than the ES7100.

I can move about a foot to the left or right on the couch and the picture still looks good.

Its about as good as the A850 I had before.

Who would look at the HDTV at a 32 plus degree angle when the stand swivels?

Has anyone's flashlighting decreased over time? I don't feel like putting more pressure on screen. Loosening screws on this set does nothing but loosen the actual panel from silver frame.

Yeah, but it took two weeks for them to get it in, I had to pick it up myself, and I didn't get any kind of discount - I even asked for double Reward Zone Points but got nothing. The second one seems to be fine without any issues so far except I do notice flashlighting every now and then in dark scenes.

Lower the backlight and the eco sensor. 20 being the highest level means it is not adjusting anything. Lower it to around 5 to start and see how that works.

Comparing the 6 series to the 7100, lead reviewer at televisioninfo.com said

"The major difference in picture quality [bn 6 and 7 series] will only be highly apparent during bouts of motion on-screen. The F7100 series has a stronger motion processor; that's not necessarily a good thing, however.

I'd say it's a safe bet. We'll be reviewing the 6 Series as soon as we can, but based on last year's Samsung panels, I'd say the only real difference you'll see is in motion processing."

Is this true??
