Here is a tip if you want to use an IR remote with your LG GTV. Since the Magic Remote is bluetooth, you will not be able to send an IR signal to a learnable control remote.
You will need a phone with an IR blaster like the Galaxy S4 or HTC One. Or a tablet with IR blaster like the Galaxy Tab 7 2.0 or 10.0
You can have the basic codes for an LG TV, and that will give you some basic functionality (on/off, channel, volume,etc...) You will not have functionality for other Google TV activities.
What you can do is download an IR app, find your TV and test the different buttons. Galaxy S4 has WatchOn, which has some of these buttons. The trick is that some buttons might work slightly different from their labeled. For example, the menu button might not give you the menu but instead take you to Google TV or maybe go back. Play around with those buttons until you find the ones you need to teach your remote.
Some good apps to try:
IR universal Remote (google play store) - Free would do fine
WatchOn - Samsung Galaxy S4
I got the following to work for me:
Guide (or primetime) (1 click for GTV Guide, 2 clicks for U-Verse guide)
Menu (GTV Menu while watching TV)
Rewind, Play, Pause, Forward
gestures - mouse cursor, which is obvious it won’t work
4 color Buttons (not that you will use them that much anyway)
