Best part of paying on a credit card is the buy is guaranteed. I got the set, they got the payment and Sony holds the warranty. As long as the set I ordered arrived new, I'm happy. Vann's stood by their sales in the past.
(I mean the label on the TV says manufactured April 2013, so a repack or refurbished is unlikely.)
From what I remembered reading, they filed for Chapter 11 over a year ago.
Overall, I'm happy with the set; it took me a day or two to get the "red lipstick syndrome" under control, found that a little less color saturation and "Warm 1" setting worked better.
Was on the phone with Sony, once about the lack of "picture and sound adjustment issue" on Netflix and Hulu, which I mentioned in a prior post. Workaround was setting "application" preferences on the "featured" page of the main menu. There are some apps, TMZ and others that bring down the "options" "picture and sound adjust" but some apps lock you out.
I took advantage of the Sony offer of one year free Hulu and Netlfix, and also the 30 day trial for Berliner Philharmonic (digital music concerts.)
