All sorted guys, thanks for your help. I picked up it was also reverting back to auto scene when I was switching to blu ray. Now the black bars are super black and picture is amazing. Thanks again for all your help. Those of you who are contemplating buying this tv. Get in before they are all gone. Not many available on Australia since Sony is not releasing anymore.

The new updated B model comes out in two months...

And, at a $1,500 lower original MSRP than the original A model had...

Gotta love the price for ongoing technology...

It, however, also has an "updated" look - which some may, or may not, like...

That's right, I wasn't too keen on the look of the new one. And got a pretty good deal on the A model. Prob should of waited, but I'm happy. It has an overall better pic than my 55hx925 which is all I wanted

I just looked at the price range of those already listed and posted mine at a "buy it now" price on the low end of the range.

I think they did there for awhile, during December...

It is my understanding that the new B model 65" and 79" includes the X-1 player...

I can get a new Sony KD-55X9005A for under $3,000 plus tax - should I go for it or wait a few months for the new Sony KD-55X9005B to come out? What are the biggest changes to the new Sony KD-55X9005B that will make it better than the Sony KD-55X9005A model?

If the price turns out to be $3,999 as stated - do you feel all the improvements are worth $1,000 more?

That is really a question only you can answer...

Some things are more important to some people than others....

And some people think of $1,000 differently than others...

I am having somewhat the same sort of dilemma - whether to wait for the B - but for different reasons.

I really like the idea of the 79" - but don't like the new wedge shape or the new bright silver outside bezel all around the TV - and don't think the new speaker design looks as good as the A series.

So, that leaves me with the 65" A series - without the other upgraded "benefits" of the B series...

Trying to decide which is more important to me - really has me going round and round...

I'm also thinking about getting a XBR65X850A instead. It has about the same foot print as the XBR55X900A but not the speakers. I have a good surround sound system that I would use watching movies anyway - so the thought of the bigger screen is appealing. Although I'm not sure about the active 3D on the 65X850A verses the passive 3D on the 55X900A.

Frankly, one of the selling points, to me, of the X900 is the speakers on the side...

And I forgot about the passive vs. active 3D change in the B...

Even thought I really don't care for 3D movies - it still would be nice - just in case...

Would also be nice to know why Sony switched to active...

The side mounted speakers on the 55X900A were something I liked as well - but I feel the extra size of the 65X850A will give me more bang for the buck in the long run - considering I don't have the space for a 65X900A because of the speakers. So I'd be willing to lose the speakers on 55X900 for the extra screen size of the 65X850 - but I haven't made up my mind for sure. If I had the room the 65X900A would be my choice.

Buy now...... ( That price is a little high though. ) Not a fan of new wedge design or having the stands on the edge of the TV.........

One can only speculate at this point to a degree, but I have a very good guess that will probably be about 90% accurate. What I saw at CES was a prototype. However we know the greatest sets are going to be the 950B with FALD. The Sony KD-55X9005B and all the lower models from what I have seen are going to be edge lit, edge lit TV's have basically looked the same since they started making them........

Do you really need me to clarify everything in order to be accurate for you? Seriously, you dig up a post from days ago to say this? Am I supposed to feel foolish for just saying 3d? I said the bluray just released was 3d - true. If you need to know more about the 2 separate conversion processes used on the CGI and capsule scenes then google it like I just did:
