The 500 price drop is par for the course. They should fly off the shelves now.

It also seems that the new B model includes a port replicator for all of your connections so you only need one connection to the TV itself....

And a built-in camera...

Gave in and bought the Sony 65 4k with out speakers yesterday for the $500 off at Best Buy. It is replacing a 8 year old Pioneer Elite 60" 720p in the family room that is moving to the bedroom. The Pioneer Elite still looks great, zero issues and is used everyday.

The Sony is going into the family room which does not a home theater system..I have a dedicated 20'x24' room for that. The Sony will be used along with a Sonos system for most all our TV watching of sports, and sitcoms with an occasional movie.

The Best Buy guys let me play around with picture settings and turned on DirecTV and the picture looked good...of course the 4k demo material looked amazing.

HI :

I had the same experience, however the Real 3D glasses work great on our set and I assume that the glasses that came with our set work great in a movie theater that shows REAL 3D most places besides IMAX. Possibly one of our techi 3D guys could explain why.

LOL

Real D venues (and passive TV sets ) use circular polarization filters in the glasses, IMAX venues use linear.

Thanks

Is the only difference between the 850a and the 900a the speakers on the side?

Sony.com still keep the 900A at 5K. Looks like Best Buy is dropping the price for everything and the store near where I live does not have the 65 inch 900A in stock. So, it you can get that one for $4500.00. It is a great deal.

Netflix app changed a few months ago and took away "start from the beginning" as an option. Although my 790 Bluray player still has the old app which has it.

Anyway, you have to manually rewind the feature to the beginning and press play.

Interesting too, is the Crackle app now has fast forward and rewind in two-minute increments. So you can't just roll it back 5 seconds if you miss something, you have to take the full two minutes again.

if you want it, have them order it for you. I went in yesterday to get the 55 900a at my local Best Buy and they didn't have it in stock in the area, so they ordered it to be shipped to the store and I'll pick it up on Friday.

now the wait for GPUs with HDMI 2.0.

It's always like that. Prices for TV drop drastically in Spring. But look at it this way. U enjoyed the TV for a year whilst other were slumming through with 1080PHD and wondering how great $K is?

I am really tempted to buy the 65" but with everyone saying not to buy the media player I don't see the point of buying it now and not being able to use it to its full potential

Speaking of Netflix
Today i am able to stream in 1080 Super HD which was not available before with the current Netflix app on the TV or not recognized as an option for display in the Netflix app.
The main title bar says HD but the display button on the TV now shows 1080 Super HD where before today it would not stream above 1080.

I also have an Oppo 103 which uses an older netflix app and it shows SuperHd on the main title bar and also streams in 1080p
Is this tweak one step closer to 4k streaming?

it's not such about the resolution it's about having the best picture that Sony makes currently. It's up to you if you feel the picture quality is worth the price, as for uhd content yes it's slip pickings but it will come around. And no guarantee you will get as good of a picture next year. For example none of lg's more expensive 2013 televisions are as good as my 2012 model so no guarantee with Sony or anyone. If your always waiting for the next great feature "Wich electronics manufacturers come up with all the time" then you will never get anything. And the fact is for led TV's they will have the best pictures and features on the 4k TV's for a while. Kinda like there wasn't such a thing as a flagship TV in the last few years that wasn't a smart TV.

There have been changes in the peering structure where Netflix now pays more to ISP's like Comcast.

Service quality changed here radically last week, and now I too get 1080 Super HD even during peak hours. Eventually the piper is going to need to get paid though.

Hello Cleaveland Plasma :

Are you a factory authorized Sony dealer or distributer. I know that there are people selling these sets at low prices but when you have an issue with the set will sony Honor the warranty. I have had a person from Sony ask me where I purchased my 65X990a as I was having issues with it. I asked him why and he said that there are some online companies the are not honoring the price protection that Sony has set up with its authorized dealers ?

I am in no way involved with Sony and have purchased many items online at great pricing but I typically try to get best Buy to match these prices Because of there return policies. Sometimes they match them and sometimes they do not.

This is not to say that your association is in any way doing something not appropriate. I have seen your adds all over the net on different venues.
