However the new models are looking to be better, more 4K complaint, and just a tad more in cost. Again, there is never a good time to buy a TV we feel........

Sony just sent out a system update tonight (3/30/14). The problem with Netflix and display button is resolved. No more forever looping and trying to get rid of it. The update blurb mentioned something about improving security, but getting too late now to look under the hood.

Ok, good to know your still happy with this set wink.gif I occassionaly switch between Clear and Clear Plus. Both saved in Cinema 1/2. Just yesterday i watched Gladiator and choose the Clear/brighter Picture. There are movies, i like the a brighter picture.

btw: The X9 got a firmware-update just yesterday. No clue what it did.

I guess you ask because they will trash them? The 65" passive comes with 4 cheapo (but not worthless) pairs. Not a huge visual quality difference between sets of glasses, but build quality varies. Highest PQ quality I've used has been Oakley Rocketfish but as I noted a few days ago they are discontinued and hard to find now. 35 bucks a pair.

No follow up model from Oakley it seems.
Otherwise go to Amazon and you can get really cheap packs of 4 for like 20 bucks.

I watched Pacific Rim 3d last night with the Oakleys. Wow. I usually try to describe experiences here but I don't even know how.

I just ordered a pair of these. I heard very good things about the Oakleys. To be honest, the 3D on this set is hard to top. I absolutely love the PQ of the X9. 2D as 3D.

The non-clearing of display info on Netflix was corrected 4 weeks ago. I had contacted support back in January, so getting it fixed in March is not too bad.

Always go bigger. Unless the difference between 65" and 84" is like 20k.

Ya know..... when I bought my last car, the manufacturer offered a $4500 rebate. Now, seven months later, it's down to $750.

Go figure. Cocky only goes so far.

Hi Guys :

regarding the 3 year extended warranty available at Costco for $89/99. You have to have purchased the TV within 60days for the extended warranty to appy. I wish that I knew this when I first bought this TV. Now its to late for me.

However if you recently or are about to purchase. this is a great deal. the only other stipulation is that it was purchased from any authorized dealer.

Hey all, I've been following the 4k sets for awhile and with the recent price reductions I've finally decided to make the purchase.

Looking for some advice with regard to the x900 vs x850 55 inch versions, I was originally looking at the 900a but stock is really limited in Canada and only demos seem to be left.

I've seen both sets numerous times, I was originally set on the x900 but now I'm not sure. I'm looking for something that's great for gaming and movies... don't really watch much cable.

I'm wondering if any gamers can post their experience with this set or the x900, I've read 40ms is the response time... any issue with games? how does the 120 hz effect gameplay? Response time really that low?

Anyone own both sets? If so major differences between the two?

Also I know one of the big benefits of the x900 is passive 3D but I know there is still a reduced resolution for the 55 inch so I'm wondering if the x900 isn't worth the added cost.

My last question is price... why is this set $500 cheaper than the x900? Leads to me believe that the x900 is the superior TV and Sony is blowing out the cheaper model... feel free to tell me this is wrong.

If you have been indeed following this thread closely, you would renew your efforts to find the 65" X900.  There are quite a few owners who think this is the better choice.

the 850 has no speakers, and has active 3D, hence the 500 dollar price difference

Well, of course, we ALL KNOW that the price comes down eventually; you were acting like you had some "inside information" on a pending price reduction...

don't buy that as the main reason... if you look at the market passive 3d sets are much cheaper than active, the glasses are more expensive as well. I'll give you the speakers in my mind that isn't enough to warrant the extra 500 dollars. Plus the x900 is almost a year older than the x850.

Whether you "buy it" or not, Sony says the difference is due to the speakers..

As far as warranting the difference in price, as always, each one of us has to decide if its ok to wait a year or two for the price to drop, or pay more to have it sooner.

I'm not asking whether the price drop is warranted to buy now or wait, I think 2,500 is still a good deal regardless if it's this year or the next, my question was whether getting the x900 at 55 inches for 3k is warranted as the 3d isn't full HD, where as the x850 is.

I think most on this thread are looking to purchase the X900A 65" or 55" before they sell out, not the X850. In my opinion, the X900A is the superior model.
