I just set the TV up. The TV itself is absolutely gorgeous. The reflection is pretty bad, but we are looking at curtains right now.

The sharpness of the picture is incredible compared to my old SXRD RPTV. Holy crap.

The blacks are positively inky compared to the SXRD.

What are the picture settings that people are using?

There are quite a few settings on this thread but the setting used most is by Austin Jerry. If you go through the thread you will find his settings. He's the go to guy for optimal settings.

My display is wall-mounted, and I couldn't locate the serial number tag.  Where on the back of the display is it located--left, right, top, bottom?

May i ask.

HDTVTEST has confirmed house of cards season 2 is streaming via netflix at 4K!

However my TV wont play it in 4K only super HD. My internet connection is 65Mbbp so its easily fast enought for 4k as netflix recommends 17Mbbp.

Is it becuase this TV is not compatable with HEVC H265.

I called sony support to see if a new firmware would make it compatable, else i return the TV and buy a recent model, but support where hopeless.

Does the built in youtube app play 4K videos on this TV?

Likely will not be able to play it, for reasons already covered within this thread. Are you sure Netflix is already streaming the 4K version of HOC? When I look at the resolution stamp it indicates "HD"

Heres the article.

http://www.hdtvtest.co.uk/news/4k-streaming-201404063713.htm

It prob has a HD stamp as netflix has not updated their system yet. For example many of their content is SHD but they still show it as HD.

Ah, thanks for the link. I wish I could tell you that your x900a will be able to watch it streaming in 4K, but I don't think so. Sony's HVEC solution for x900a is sounding like an external HW option, but I hope this is not in the form of another $600 upgrade (e.g. the X1).

FWIW- Here in Australia mine says Made in Malaysia. Also We don't even have that big sticker like that. Only a small one and no build date. Voltage states 120v-240v (Multi system/World Voltage??) hmmm. I was hoping for Made in Japan oh well and the reason why people look for Made in Japan is because of the build quality. Now others will come back and say there is no difference but I beg to differ on "other" occasions. The original Sony PSP Made in Japan- the screen was a better quality. The China made one was inferior- evident in the display brightness. This issue also lies with photography optics but to a lesser extent. As for our TVs - not sure- and the only thing I know is we have never been told that we need a replacement HDMI board in that HDMI 2.0 fiasco as was the case with you guys in the US. Regardless its an interesting subject on what countries are assembling this TV.

Just so you know, the circuit board was not related in any way to HDMI 2.0, which was a software update all 4K televisions received.

The HDCP circuit board that was installed on these sets in the US was what facilitated compatibility with the X1, 4K media player.

lol, I'm considering it too. I'm back and forth about it. Problem really is that if I'm investing more money I want to be sure HEVC is supported, but with x900a that solution is sort of mysterious.

Not yet. I saw that DirecTV has it as a 3D rental. I'd like to get the BluRay but it isn't available in the US and the prices people are asking are ridiculous.

Anyone ordered one of these? https://www.nuvola4k.com

A bit pricey and I'm wondering how much 4k content they have available.

would this allow me to play edited 4K 2160p MP4 videos made by my Sony FDR-AX100 and other 4K cams or processed by NLEs to played on a 4K TV?
Videos stored now on hard drives?

By the looks of things yes, it also supports external drives up to 3 tb as well.
