What's up with Best Buy? Their website now has it listed at 5498 and it doesn't change when added to the cart.

Not sure why you're so disappointed.

The X9 A series hasn't played 4K off of USB since day 1, and that hasn't changed (no matter what the file format may be or what some goober in Best Buy says).

The Sony camcorders and cameras that I've had over the years don't react kindly to videos/photos from other sources being loaded into them. Even if you give the foreign file a sympathetic file name, it still won't play so it must be lacking some metadata which means that the unit can't play anything other than what was shot on it.

I don't get why they have 2 listings on their site for the same TV? Also, I figured out you can get it for 3299 by clicking on a link on SlickDeals. So I guess technically there are 3 on BuyDig. If anyone is interested add EMSNXBR65X850A to their search bar for 3298.

Saw that too, for both 55 and 65. There is a "hot prices on select sony 4k tvs" banner on the TV page that takes you to them, but old bad prices. And when I check for delivery now, they are no longer available. Either they will lower the price soon or they are actually done with them to focus on the Bs. I remember last year's xbr disappeared from bb pretty quickly after the clearance drops.

Amazon still has the old price, probably just matching BB and subject to change any minute.

Amazon doesn't even sell them new as of today it looks like. .. spoke too soon... they do appear to be selling them through other sellers.

They are listing prices for the new 900B but still have old 900A in the listing. That is my guess. i.e. they are in process of changing the listing... wrong again.

When I asked the chat rep what was up with the price she told me "because its the new 4K 120Hz model"... and that "Best Buy prices vary from week to week". LOL... obviously she doesn't have a clue.

Just sold my x9.
My local reseller can let me buy the 2014 model for just 700$ of difference, so I decided to do the "upgrade"..
If I had to pay more I would never accepted!

I do not think it is too much to expect that the Top of the line Sony devices to do more.
Instead these are Deliberately Restricted to do Less by removing common Simple functions.
Sony Deliberately removes functionality for Profit.
My Philosophy is exactly the Opposite.

The new model plays from USB so it might have been a format issue.

I have never bought anything from buydig.com before, but the are a Sony authorized reseller and a Google trusted site.  Amazon will price match it, but I have to pay sales tax with Amazon.  You have to go all the way through checkout to see the price.  It's $3299 for the 65x900a and $2799 for the 65x850a.  1 of the listings is for a bundle (HDMI cable, warranty, etc) and it's $3799 the other is just for the TV and it's $3299.

Geoff

Please note that the Sony software PLAYS the 4K files but Refuses to Export (vet) the files to play on the Sony 4K camera - it can easily convert it into any format it wants I am sure.

No idea, MP4 seems to play without a hitch... MKV not so much.

If potential owners are still on the fence about the speakers and their aesthetics, I was not happy with them even after the TV was delivered. It took awhile for me to realize how elegant it looked against bias lighting. I never use the speakers. But I dig the style.

Preamble
Have 65X900a 4K TV - SONY
Have FDR-AX1 4K camera - SONY, Camera stores 4K files it makes on XQD memory cards
Once 4K files are removed from XQD card to Hard drive for storage and then
copied from hard drive and pasted to XQD card to Play on SONY 4K TV the
SONY 4K Camera will NOT recognize the SONY made 4K files - even though it was made on that same SONY 4K camera
Talk to SONY
SONY says the stored 4K file has to be FIRST vetted by Play Memories Home software to be recognized by the SONY 4K camera which made it - CRAZY STUPID !!!
so
Transferred 4K file from storage hard drive through Play Memories Home software to XQD card ( called Export)
Lo and Behold stored 4K file is now recognized by the SONY 4K camera which originally Made that 4K file
and
the 4K file plays through SONY 4K camera to SONY 4K TV - will be truly excellent quality once I start using a tripod and shoot

EXPERIMENT
Download true 4K files from internet
A. Vet them in SONY software and put into XQD card and Play on 4K Camera and Watch on 4K TV - would that not be GREAT ?????
and
B. Vet them in SONY software and put onto USB stick and see if the 4K files play when plugged into SONY 4K TV

RESULTS
Download of true 4K files from internet - SUCCESS .
Run them on SONY Play Memories (will play as 2K) software - SUCCESS
A. EXPORT (vet) the downloaded 4K files to XQD memory card to play on 4K camera - FAIL, the files which played on the SONY software are NOT RECOGNIZED by same SONY software for Export to XQD memory
B.EXPORT (vet) the downloaded 4K files to USB stick to play on 4K TV - FAIL, the files which played on the SONY software are NOT RECOGNIZED by same SONY software for Export to USB stick

CONCLUSION
I am NOT A HAPPY SONY CUSTOMER !!!!
Will talk to SONY - customer care people did not even know what a Sony FDR-AX1 camera was last time - Frustration
The 900A cannot play 4K from USB. Downloadable 4K content plays on the X900B models from USB.

I had the 55 for a couple of weeks, just ordered the 65... and love the sound of the speakers. I had to customize the audio settings, but dialed in the way I like, it sounds awesome. Not as good as my towers, but awesome. As far as looks go, I was not immediately a fan, but grew to like the look.

Don't know why, but they gave me a free X1 with the TV. I didn't argue with them or tell them the X1 wasn't offered on the website.... I just paid and walked quickly out the store :)
