Do you really think they'd make less money if they opened up their 4K rentals to the masses by adding it to the PS4?? You really believe the sales from this $700 streamer and the movies the people who buy it rent will be larger than the rental money they'd make from enabling it on PS4? Not a chance. My guess is they are milking the enthusiasts and earlier adopters for as much as they can until 4K TVs become more popular (and at the same time providing extra marketing for their 4K TVs by having the only real source of 4K content -- but not for too long), and yes, then they will enable it on PS4 to the masses for any 4K tv.

Has anyone else received the 65x900A from buydig.com? I just got mine recently and it doesn't seem to come with the passive 3D glasses?

Can't wait to play with it more. I must say the screen is more reflective than I was expecting though...

Yea, we have surely batted that one around enough. I wouldn't say it was good, but that's where most of them are made. Shouldn't matter. What's important is are you happy with the quality?

Yeah, it's a small box that's tucked inside one of the styrofoam edges, so very easy to accidentally miss. I would check your box thoroughly if you haven't already thrown it out.

IMO, 850a since it has no side speakers, active 3D and similar frame design, (and maybe same type of display coating? less glossy than x900a?) as the w900a.

But as your probably know, w900a was not 4k. It seems like a 1080p version of these, quantum dots, xr960, xreality pro, etc...

Sony XBR55X850A or Samsung UN55F8000 (this is the last year model)
I think these are the 2 I've come down to. Which one would you recommend. This is all for cable/movies. No gaming. No Plasma.

I would go with the x850a. I prefer Sony's over all color and I felt the Samsung looked overly sharp.

Egads - STUPID
I have had the Sony 4K camera for 5 months and used it on just 3 trips and I have over 1TB in files ( this FMPX10 has a ONE (ONE !!!) Tb drive ) and I am NOT SHOOTING at the highest bit rate to exceed the 1TB
AND
USB 2.0 !!
I am so pizzed now at waiting for files to upload at USB 3.0 so that I can watch it on the Sony 4k TV - if they think that I have the patience to do it at USB 2.0 !!
USB 2.0 - Really ADVANCED technology from Sony

No info about VP9
Do they think that they can sell me ANOTHER media player when VP9 comes out ?
They should make it clear that the FMPx10 is firmware upgrade-able to VP9.

50 FREE titles ???
NO - NOT titles
they are - ""with over 50 free videos in 4K, including eye-popping short films, documentaries, music videos and sports videos""

I have not been a big watcher of movies or BluRay - maybe I will find the time after retirement
BUT
to pay 29.99$ where
I pay for the device used to Download
I pay for the data downloading cost
and
they have Little or No cost for anything - bluray/4k discs, marketing, distribution, paying the retail seller etc, etc....
so it is nearly PURE profit for THEM.

I have never seen a sweeter deal which is totally for THEM !! to print Money

I am on the fence about this TV, because I got a great deal in an LG OLED. I am being offered a 65X900A with the X1 for 3K or WO the box for $2,800. Love my OLED but like the straight 10" of the 4k. Whatever I decide, these Sony are incredible.

Hey fellow x9005a owners. Ive had my 65in for about 2months.

Im trying to determine if mine is faulty. When playing movies blurays and netfliks for example. I sometimes get a purple/deep red trail that follows the edge of a dark outline against a lighter background. For example the hairline between peoples head and their faces. Try yours watch ghost busters on netfliks and from the start you will notice the problem on hair lines/edges of heads if yours has the same issue. Once i noticed it i then noticed just about anything that movies has a subtle colour fringe around it. Is this normal?

I watch dead center to the screen and i get some xtalk. Ive have 2 DLP 3D projectors so know what zero xtalk looks like. So do others find the xtalk on their x9005a still annoying? Or do you get zero xtalk?

No visible crosstalk on my 55", measured at less than 1% in each eye. I had a Sony active TV so I know what mega bad crosstalk looks like.

Lee, do you have any idea if people outside the US had figured out how to use one of thae boxes? Through proxies etc?
Since this seems to be the only solution Sony has offered, i was looking to getting one in the next few months. Im from India btw.

55 or 65? My 55 did it. I returned it. Don't have my 65 yet, but going to find out in about 3 hours. See this post below for details on the issue I saw...

Hi sdMCM66, when you say yours had it did you mean the red ghosting or the xtalk?

Plz let me know if you get the issue with your 65. Was it a free upgrade or did they let you pay extra for it... also did they let you have the 65x900A or the new B version? smile.gif

Now that the X10 is out and dropped to $500 I guess my NIB X1 just became a worthless pos. Maybe I can still get 100 clams out of it.

Hi 3DMaper, the red trails/ghosting. I just flat out returned the 55 and then two weeks later, because of the price, bought the 65A at BB. I will report back with test results.
