I have noticed when a overall white screen is present, the lower left quadrant has a minor blue cast. The intensity is a little stronger than the "yellow" you see with a warm or dim cast to the screen. It is that way on normal as well as cinema or any other setting. It is the kind of thing that with an old CRT, you did a degauss to eliminate. Any thoughts?

Without 4k content, people won't buy 4k TVs. Sony wants to sell 4k TVs, AND content. They will make it as easy to get as they can, as soon as they can.

Just like they did with 3D on the PS3.

Here was the band on the last set.

We have approximately similar TVs. I have already givens photos

Also on dark backround we have clauding approximately in the same places. Your TV is not made in Slovakia? The only thing on my TV, I did not find dead pixels.

Owners of 65х900 tell please, on your TVs too there is something similar as on photos above?

I have a very light band on mine. They are bringing a new one on Monday, but I'm 2nd guessing the decision to replace the current set. After all the swaps many members have done only to be back in the same boat, its a gamble. I don't like the "wrinkly dirty strip" across the top and bottom of the screen either (you can see it in his pics), but its really a minor thing considering how great this set looks when most of the time you can't see these "defects". When there is light sky or other light background showing at the top, then the wrinkly strip is sort of noticeable. The band not so much.

I didn't notice a band on mine. I only saw two specs of dust and don't feel like playing the swap game. Sure I can see it sometimes, but whatever.

I have a question for you folks with Oppo BDPs 3D players. Does it allow you to zoom a 3D picture not filling the screen? I think it does. The P3 doesn't offer any way to do this. The X9 doesn't allow you to zoom in 3D mode. I thought the Oppo would do this, thus sending the Sony an already zoomed picture. I should just post this question to the BDP threads...

from the BDP threads it seems that it does... but you X9 owners are having issues with interop between the X9 and Oppos?

I use the Oppo solely for playing Blu ray disks. It's a waste of money for me to have an Oppo.

Quite frankly, there are other things that greatly irritate me about the Oppo.

I have to keep rebooting the damned thing often because it freezes. One of the HDMI inputs is in the front...really annoying.

Often, when I change HDMI inputs on Oppo remote to go from comcast to ATV i get green and red screens, and have to reboot.

I hear the Oppo loads BD disks very fast? What about other players? do they load just as fast? Or are they a second slower?

THERE IS ONE THING ...I love about the Oppo. It has multiple zoom features so you can watch your screen at just about any size.

The sony Tv has a few modes but not nearly as good.

????? Simulated 3D does not look nearly as good as a 3D blu-ray. If you think so then you go ahead and enjoy your simulated 3D, while the rest of us watch "real" 3D. :)

yeah simulated is never going to be as good as bluray 3D quality, but it is still pretty darn good on our X9 compared to others i've seen.

Here I photographed once again this banding in the middle of the screen. I have a suspicion that all have this, simply many don't notice it and don't attach importance to this. Very rarely who outputs completely white palette and looks out for such things.

I never said that BD 3d was worse. It's much better than simulated 3d.

I said that the simulated 3d the Oppo offers is no where nearly as good as the Sony.

The Oppo also has a simulated 3d function for 2d programs

The zoom features on the Oppo are the only reason why I have the ATV and comcast box go through the Oppo.

The oppo has multiple zoom levels, which are way superior to the sony.

The sony simply zooms and you lose part of the picture.

The Oppo has a 1.2 zoom which is just perfect.

I am probably the only person in this forum who does not like watching movies in original format, with the two black areas above and below the movie.

I use the Oppo 1.2 zoom, and it works perfectly to eliminate these without losing any part of the picture.

Who cares, do you watch a white screen all day?

On other bright colors it is also noticeable, although not much. It is interesting to me, how at others? Whether there is something similar on white background.

That is incorrect. It's Active. That review site is notorious for cut and pasting info from one similar model to another. The only Passive 4K for the XBR B series is the 850B.

I have ruled out active 3d all together...maybe when these Sony Tv's come out I should try it again. Maybe Sony's active quality is really good?

I'm totally disappointed that vizio is dropping 3d all together in their 2014 line up.

I think it is worth checking out. I mentioned earlier in the thread I use to hate active 3d, but have a samsung f8500 with flawless active 3d.

Cool, I'm with you 100% on getting rid of horizontal black bars, especially for 3D... and I had a look at the manual for the new 103 and I see what you are saying. Gotta have it, thanks!

Most gamers need to have the best, if Sony enabled 4k on the ps4, then imagine the gamers that have 4k tvs raving how great it is, then posting on forums/friends etc, then there would be a flow on effect and id be willing to bet there would be alot more 4k tvs sold

The 900a uses a different panel. It uses an OptiContrast Panel and has Passive 3D. The 850a uses a Deep Black Panel and has Active 3D. The 850a has more of a matte finish and does not have the speakers like the 900a.

Frys has the 65x850a " for $2,798 and the 55" for 1,697. The lowest prices I have seen.

I bought this TV a couple of days ago from Best Buy (and got my price adjustment today, thank you very much). Very happy with it, especially the 3D, and this is the first time I've had 3D so even better.

Anyway I have an Oppo 95 with ISO support (so I can't be updating the firmware obviously without losing it), and it freezes up on the welcome screen. I connected my Oppo 93 and same thing. Was able to work around it by booting the player first with the HDMI cable disconnected and then reconnecting it. That works, but I don't like the idea of having to do that every time I power up, nor having to leave the player on. Also I had problems with 3D, the player wasn't automatically switching to 3D mode in auto, so I have to change the settings to force 3D everytime and then back again for 2D.

I sent Oppo an email and they replied:
Quote:
There is a bug in the way the Sony identifies its EDID information to the player that when using HDMI 1 the player will freeze up completely. This was introduced to the Sony firmware in December. There is no way to resolve this incompatibility other than to use HDMI 2 (which will degrade de-interlacing and scaling performance of DVD material) or will require using a newer firmware release which will compensate for this error, but will unfortunately remove any ISO compatibility that your current player supports.

So I don't know if it's possible that Sony may fix this on a future update, but I'll probably have to look at upgrading my player sooner rather than later. i wonder if connecting the HDMI to a switcher first might work? I don't have any handshake issues once I do that cumbersome workaround.

Some marketing staff...In reality, do you have something similar (vartical banding on the white background)?

I would hope Sony fixes this issue.
They have released updates with bugs and did fix them in future releases.
Have you contacted Sony about this? They may be able to provide an estimate for when it will be resilved.
