I really just want 4K streaming from Netflix on my 900A and i feel like I have been burned as well.
Not looking to throw any more money Sony's way.

Breaking Bad will begin streaming on Netflix in 4K in June.
Netflix increased their recommended minimum internet speed from 15 to 20 Mbps to get a reliable 4K streaming picture.
Maybe ROKU will come out with a 4K player soon?

I think that was smart on their part. It seemed to cut in and out of 1080p and 4k in my experience w/ anything under 18mbps. Personally, I think roku will be the first to the 4k streaming game w/ something late this year or early next.

I realized that in purchasing the 900A TV - which has an awesome picture quality by the way - that i went against my belief of buying individual components rather than an all in one. TV's that have internal apps may not be the way to go as technology changes. I remember several years ago Sony had a TV that allowed for plug in modules but abandoned that methodology.

For example, we all probably have our stereo systems made up of individual components rather than an all in one turntable, cassette deck CD player and radio. Yes i have all of these components biggrin.gif And i have an 8 track player if anyone wants to buy it too cool.gif

For anyone even remotely interested in Indian cinema or a new owner of these sets I have a treat for you. 2 films from the most visually poetic director - Sanjay Leela Bansali (Kind of the Baz Luherman of India). The movies are pretty sappy (although Ramleela is a passable adaptation of Romeo Juliet) but both discs are demo worthy and atleast a rent for people who love beautiful sets. smile.gif

Beautiful textures and colours that just pop off these 4k screens. Trust me owners of these sets should atleast see/show them once. biggrin.gif

Going to possibly order the 70" Sony XBR 4k from Best Buy this weekend. Does anyone know if a Sony 4k TV offers the Simulview feature?

The 4k does offer that feature with seperate glasses, although I don't know which model you refer to - the x900a does not come in 70".

@ Nishant. Stunning pictures. Are Indian movies in English or Hindi? My Hindi is a little rusty... wink.gif

BTW, what camera do you use to capture those beautiful screen images? Very nice.

Hey Austin, namaste! Its a pleasant surprise that you are familiar with hindi. smile.gifsmile.gif
Both these come with english subtitles. The first one is from eros india and the second from sony usa.
The pictures were hastily captured using the iphone and dont do the content justice. smile.gif
Let me know if you ever see these/ any other indian films. Would love to discuss.

Ps. For visually beautiful movies look up sanjay leela bansali, anurag kashyap, imtiaz ali etc smile.gif

Just got the Tronsmart box in this morning, haven't gotten a chance to play with it too much, but I've got some very very basic first impressions to give to you guys:

4K is definitely another beast as far as detail. Its a shame that all the clips I've gotten have been ripped off YouTube, because the bit rate is pretty horrendous. A lot of detail has definitely been lost because of it. Still, it makes me excited for the future of 4K content.

As far as the box itself, I can't give it a recommendation at all as of yet. It reads a ton of formats and handles things beautifully, but I have a constant green line on the very tippy-top of the screen that runs all the way across. It reminds me of the sort of thing you would get when your aspect ratio is wonky, but I can't adjust the aspect ratio that I know of until I root it. As of yet, I haven't gotten around to trying that. Its also something I've never done, so I'm wary of accidentally bricking my device or something. If I can get that little detail fixed, as of now I'd have no real problem recommending it at all. I bought it to play the 4K content that is out there, and as of now its handled that (bar the green line) splendidly.

Can we have some more details?  What is the exact model number?  Do you have a link?  How are you hooking it to the Sony display, HDMI4?  I assume it is receiving content from the internet, so is there a bitrate display that shows the network speeds it is achieving?

I think there are some inaccuracies in that chart. Most importantly is the USB playback. The x10 will support USB playback.

Well, I did it - I converted back to Warm2. The colors on Warm1 just proved too muted with the bluer temp. I think I did a good job nudging out the yellow whites to what I prefer as neutral in the white balance settings.
(-6,-10,0,-5,-2,-6)

I'm quite impressed that the batteries in the remote have lasted a year considering how much time I've been in the menus.

Based on the specs, I don't think that the Tronsmart Vega S89-H is able to decode either VP9 or H.265
So I am not sure that it is outputting true 4K content to the TV
What does your display button say when you push it on the remote when playing content from this player?
Also, I have an Oppo bluray player that up-converts to 4k and that shows 3840x2160p on the display.
The problem there is the Bluray is recorded at 1080p and upscaled to 4k - so not really 4k either.

I believe he bought it mainly to play 4k content stored on a USB.

Exact model to my knowledge is the Tronsmart Vega S89H.

http://m.aliexpress.com/item/1897413049.html

I've connected it to both HDMI 2 and 4, and I've used different HDMI cable just to be sure. I downloaded a few YouTube 4K videos. They are not being streamed. Display shows 4K output for sure.

Home/Settings/Picture and Display/Screen. Set Auto Display Area to Off and then adjust.

You should' have to do this. What is the issue?

But covering the issue up by adjusting the overscan sounds like a poor solution. You might as well use a band-aid.

A band-aid is better than nothing. The thing is though, that as soon as I'm on the input with the media box it automatically greys out the options for aspect ratio etc.
