999" ftw lol

And the four year old thread with no definite answers proves what, exactly? Changing the screen size to 999 does nada on my 95, ditto on my PS3.

Proves nothing except has an Oppo quote. Tongue was implanted in cheek for the most part

And you would have to factory reset your ps3 according to the thread

So I was thinking about picking up a Yamaha RX-V677 to replace my Pioneer SC-27...Has the HDMI 2.0 compatability, 4K pass through/upscaling and some other cool features that make it appealing (to me anyway)... Just wondering if anyone has this unit paired up with the display ?

Just saw the entire Underworld series including the final one in 3D. I am stunned beyond belief at the black levels on this TV. Granted i use a bias light, but I am talking OLED levels here. I never could imagine any TV let alone an LED to be so good. Mock me but i cant believe it myself sometimes. (I have gone back and forth with a 950 and a vt30 many times)
I purchased this tv to be a secondary one for my bedroom and it stuns me everytime. This TV is going to hang in my house for a long long time.

I hear you. I've been a technician for 30 yrs and would love to get in there and fix it. Maybe someone at a repair center could do a YouTube video on disassembly of the X900A. I don't have any light spots on dark screens to speak of but I do have darker shaded blobs on lighter screen like a light blue or a gray sky shot. Only really bugs me when it pans across.

Just call them. They will pick up the old TV and deliver a new one. They will actually put the old TV in the box they bring the new TV in.

Well I still NEED a TV. I have it narrowed down to 3 now... Any advice from anyone? I have read a million reviews on them all and still can't make up my mind. I welcome any advice that anyone is willing to give.

SAMSUNG 75" Class (74.5" Actual Diagonal Size) H6350 Series Smart LED TV (UN75H6350) $2499
Sony XBR-65X900A 65" 4K Ultra High Definition TV $2,299.00
Sharp AQUOS Q+ LC70SQ15 70 $2,197.99

After owning the Sony XBR-65X900A 65" 4K Ultra High Definition TV would you all buy it again if you had the opportunity over the others?

if you cant see any clouding once the local dimming kicks in with content (games/movies) i wouldnt worry about it. Banding is more distracting and you could end up with a worse panel. But in the end, if it does not meet your expectations, you can try and roll the dice again on another panel.

I feel the same way. Mine is exaclty as you described and couldnt be happier.

Biggest issues right now are:
-Will I get better motion pixelation with the X900A vs the W850B? Still don't know if there is a setting that will improve that on the W850B.
- it seems the X900A has an incredible 3d picture and it's passive 3d. The W850b is active and the 3d picture seems to be too dark. Could be because of the glasses. Regular Blu looks really good but it seems the 3D picture on the same Blu player is just darker overall even with the same picture settings.
-Dropping from a 70" to 65".
-4k with the X900A vs no 4k with the W850B.

I guess the overall question is if whether the X900A is the better buy even though it's more expensive..
Without a shaddow of a doubt the X900A would kill the W850b in black levels alone, and overall picture quality. I'd go with the X900A, I think you'll be more than pleased.

Most defenatly and without question i would pull the trigger again for this amazing set, and thats coming from someone who invested almost 6 grand for it with the warranty. Its the best picture quality and 3D performance i have ever seen.

If they repair the return I would gladly take it haha.
Better than getting a new one with issues.

Now if they just keep the return and repack it that is crap!

Apple refurbs are as good as new if not better b.c the problem has been fixed.

Sony is not Apple though

About 4 years ago They sent me a refurbished TV that was literally warped in the middle. Had a certified sticker on it too by inspector#13

Thanks Reid..

Well, I took your advice and went over to BBY after work to see how I could arrange an exchange for the X900A but it turns out they sold all the remaining units they had today so all stores in my area are now officially out of stock. Looks like I have no choice but to start enjoying my W850B Bravia while I keep an eye out for any 4K XBR that may drop down to a lower price during my remaining return period (27 days).

I concur.......i bought a Samsung from them in 2011 the tv had the worst picture quality, and sending it back was too much of a hassle. Cheap price yes, but if you get a bad panel, be prepared to lug that huge tv to fedex store if they allow you to return it. I would prefer to ask best buy to price match them or go even close-as possible to their price.

Well, I will let everyone know when my set comes in. I know Bestbuy bought a large stock from Sony, Its very possible Beach Camera did the same. It wont be hard to tell if the set is refurbished and there will be over a 150 dissatisfied buyers. I'm sure I am not the only here who bought one.

This forum is about to be flooded with a bunch of new 900A owners complaining about uniformity issues and no easy way to exchange.

I haven't noticed any uniformity issues on mine, and I'm not about to go looking for defects either. It's only a defect if you know about it.
