Yeah, I used the settings recommended here, unless there's another way? This is all new to me. First major TV purchase, had an HX800 before though. Bought that open box a great price too.

You run the risk of damaging the display if you try doing it yourself. If I were you, I would offer the delivery guy a few extra bucks to stay long enough to help you install the base and place it on the stand. It will be money well spent.

The other way is to buy a disc and do it yourself. More work and the end result shouldn't be much different than what is here.

So true. Austin Jerry's settings are perfect. I, like many, use a disc and did not have to make a single change.

Jerry, I agree with you 100%. I think that I have rounded up a friend for the delivery . My plan is to inspect the outside of the box for any damage (take pics if there is) and then haul it up into the house. I will insist on taking box cover off and again inspecting for any damage to the TV. After that I want to plug the set in and power it up to make sure it does come up before signing off on delivery. If possible I will pay driver to help put it on it's stand and then onto my TV stand. I figure that on first power on it goes through some sort of sequence and then goes immediately into the initial setup screens? Are these "full" screens where you can look at the display for any problems (cracked, etc..)? Any other tips you could give me would be appreciated..
I am going to print out your cal settings page today and will probably try the set that gives a little bit brighter picture to start as we have a number of windows in the living room.. Thanks in advance for all your hard work on the cal settings!!!
Gerry

I did my 55" by myself. But the 65", yeah, you'd need a hand with that beast.

Exactly what I did. 55" alone, but the 65" is a bear.

So they don't start any return period over on the replacement set or did they just get tired of you returning so many? If that is the case, people should just return and rebuy a new set each time (if the price is the same).

My delivery people just plopped it face down on the narrow edge of the open box it came in to screw on the stand. I would suggest having a padded flat surface ready for them before they try something like this.

Best buy uses a 3rd party service, TRE, to determine your return history. It is shared by other retailers. At any point you could return something and at the bottom of the receipt it will literally say you are banned for 90 days from returns based on your history.

For example, you could exchange a TV and the new receipt could give you that warning. Price matches are actually viewed as a no receipt return under TRE.

This is why they need your ID for a return. The way around it is to have a friend or family member do the return if you have a few.

Suggestions? Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks
Take a look at the Toshiba P50T-BST2N01 4K 15.6 inch laptop. It has a 4k display and will output 4k at 30 fps.

So excited - my 65X900A arrived today. Quick question for any of you veteran owners that happens to also have the passive simulview glasses. I was wondering if watching a 3d movie with the simulview glasses would result in a 2d image, and, if so, is there any noticeable ghosting?

I am thinking of picking up a pair of simulview glasses for this very reason. That way, if I watch a 3d movie with a group of friends, and some of them prefer to watch it in 2d, I can offer them the simulview glasses while the rest of us rock the 3d.

I am pretty sure this would work, but thought it worth asking before I buy. Thanks in advance!

Did you get yours from Beach Camera? If so, mine is scheduled for tomorrow. What is the build date of yours. Looks like a few people got theirs today and started leaving feedback. I am curious about the Simulview glasses as well.

Here is an article on mobile devices related to 4k
There sure are a lot of options on the horizon to kickstart 4k media streaming.

Attached is a photo on the TV's YouTube app. My eye is always focused on the two banding beams on the bottom center/right. Is this acceptable or should I call Sony?

Panel was built March 2014 btw. Thanks for your help.

OMG, that is some serious banding. Call Sony I am sure they will agree. Never purchase from BB.

But you are doing better than me - i don't have a player at all
So at least you have seen 4k content -
even though you can't hear it

I wall-mounted the 65er all by myself.... absolutely NOT RECOMMENDED! The TV is perfectly fine, but if I told you whole story you would think me a fool... so I won't.

NEVER purchase from BB? That's a bit harsh. BB has no control over the quality of Sony TVs. BB was actually very good at working to make sure I was happy. Maybe not everyone's experience.

Say you purchase a bad set with banding and exchange it. Next you price match a camera. Then you realize your second $5,000 display is worse than your 1st. If you have been flagged for the previous return and price match you cannot exhange your bad TV because you have been put on 90 day no returns or exchanges. If they sell you 3 bad displays in a roll they should exchange every one of them.

One other question, I notice fine horizontal lines on my panel. Especially on, text or subtitles/logos. Is this normal? Up close not so much. Notice a little more on 3d.

I got mine from buydig.com, from their eBay listing. I am partially hating myself for not waiting a couple of days and getting in on that beach camera deal (would have saved me $700). But, I bought at a price that I thought was fair, and I have a great panel that i have no need to exchange, so i am good with where i ended up.

I have not noticed any uniformity issues at all with the backlighting The closest I come to an "issue" that I can perceive is some minor cloudiness along the right hand side during that very brief you tube loading screen, and that is it. As long as there is actual video input, even if its a black screen, it looks amazing. Could not be happier.

Where would I find the build date and/or other manufacturing info? I will share if I can find it.

Also, I think buydig and beach camera may be the same company (their website looks identical anyway). So fingers crossed you get a good set as well. I had no issue with their shipping company either (team worldwide logistics, or something like that).
