Yes, gaming on regular modes (regardless of motionflow settings other than maybe impluse) is basically unusable. There is so much ghosting on movement -- ghosting as in the trail that you see when you move the mouse on a really old computer monitor.

I'll try to take a quick video on FIFA 14 to show the ridiculous amount of ghosting in standard mode.

Ya I play a lot of titanfall and it's unplayable in any other mode. I'm just pissed because game mode lowers the graphic quality so much. Worlds look flat and the colors are bland.

Agreed.

I could honestly live with the flat picture in game mode if it did not have the ghosting/motionblur. The blur is the worst part.

I'm surprised no one really mentioned it before these past few days. At point, I thought maybe I just had a bad set.

I can only perceive the slightest difference when plugging in the settings I use for Cinema into the Gaming Scene select.

+3 to color
-3 to blue bias
^Offset settings cinema > game mode

Approximation by eye

Not a comment on motion.

I've never seen anything displeasing on my 360 or ps4 but I mostly play Bethesda and sports games. Not shooters

No it's not your set. Mine does the same thing. I also noticed that this tv does a bad job at up converting games that run in lower resolutions. Games that are not running in 1080p look bad on this set. I have a 32 inch Panasonic LCD that's over 6 years old that does a better job. Games actually look better on the older tv. I love this set but I'm not gonna lie, it's not the best for gaming. Hopefully someone has some better gaming settings that might improve this.

It's the year 2014, and gaming is bigger than ever. Sony makes the PS4, so I would think they would make all their TV's so they work well with one of their products, ESPECIALLY on a $4000 TV.

I'm not a tv expert but I basically expected it to perform better than a 2008 sony tv.

Don't get me wrong, blu-rays look fantastic in terms of color rendition, black levels, etc. Its just sad that the panels native response time cannot keep up with games like FIFA.

I am not a pro-gamer and I'm not complaining about input lag or whatever. I just expected that when something moved on the screen, it wouldn't degrade the picture quality that much (to the point where its actually blurry).

I agree. When I bought the tv i just expected it to be the best at everything since I did spent $4000 on this set. I didn't think the tv would have trouble playing games since it's made by sony and they are in the gaming business.

You guys didnt do your research properly then, or you would have known that this TV is NOT geared for high end gaming..you can "hope" all you want, but its not going to make it any better...the fact is, this is NOT a TV geared for the best gaming experience, and that has been posted here many many times..

I'm not going to go back through this entire thread, but I'm pretty sure it was a few months before anyone mentioned it wasn't good for gaming, so what about the people who bought the TV prior to those posts? What "research" could they have done? Not to mention, I have read a few posts where people have said they have had ZERO issues with gaming on this TV.

irrelevant question coming from you, since YOU did not buy this tv many months ago, and come in here prior to then and asked the "gamers" what they thought of this tv..and, if you knew how to search this website, you wouldn't have to go through this "entire thread"..

If I'm spending $4000 for the latest and greatest then it should be able to handle gaming with ease.

My questions are not irrelevant, because I am simply doing my "research" that you suggested we all do, since I have not yet purchased the TV. I have a chance to buy a 900A for $1150, but if the TV doesn't perform to my gaming standards, even at that price point, it wouldn't be a smart buy for me, since I game 50% of the time on my TV.

You mean that TV at your son's Best Buy is still around? Maybe some of the folks at BB could help you come to a decision.

Unless you watch no television programs and just plan on gaming on it 24/7, it's the right TV at a really attractive price.

They actually had 2 that were open box, and 1 sold. They are selling them brand new at his store for $2400, and the open box ones, are only marked down to $2250. Maybe people would rather pay the extra $150 to have a sealed box? I can get it for $1150 because of his discount. I'm so torn as to what to do, because both me, and my son, are huge gamers.

For being high end, why not? What are most video games played on? A salad bowl?

Sony developed the PS4 to be played on CRT's, didn't you know that? You should have done your "research".

Thats acutely not true... Sony used the XBR850 for most of the testing and final viewing. You can see the XBR850 in many of the final viewing videos also. Xbox also used the XBR850 at many points in the testing.

I'm not saying the XBR is the best gaming TV on the market but it was used for the testing.

i guess some of you are too lazy to read up through here before spending several thousand dollars on a tv for your game boxes...yeah, I guess you shouldn't have to do any research, and just be able to click somewhere and have all your answers provided to you on a silver platter..

good luck in life with that mentality..

Why did Sony put a gaming mode on the TV, if they didn't think people would use the TV for gaming? You make ZERO sense with your argument.

Game, Movies or whatever it should look amazing on this TV. People cant be upset that people are bringing it up cause its "gaming" its this a thread about the TV and they are talking about the TV.
