4K at 24Hz from a 4K upconverting Blu-Ray player has no judder, and YouTube 4K videos stream smoothly as well. I don't know about 1080p at 120Hz...I haven't tried that.

Thank you for this, flashed my 39in and it worked great. Tested and confirmed.

That's all chuckfagan. But, definitely stoked it worked for you as well. What boggles my mind, is that seiki has a clear solution...but hasn't released firmware (or at least packaged for 39)

Just thought I would let you guys now I just bought this TV from Amazon. I found it on sale at sears.com for $649.88 vs $974.83. I emailed amazon before I ordered them and they said they would price match it after I bought it.

link to sears is http://www.sears.com/seiki-50inch-class-4k-120hz-led-ultra-hdtv/p-05771550000P?prdNo=3&blockNo=3&blockType=G3

Hope it helps someone.

I may be looking at the wrong screen, perhaps?

I just flashed the firmware from Seiki's site (SE50UY04_20130528.zip) and it shows up as May 21st 2013 once installed... (?!?)

Anyway, I was (amongst other things) hoping to be able to fix the overscan issue but when I change the overscan settings, they hop from 96% to 0% and won't budge. Fortunately, powering off seems to void this change and I`m back where I started...

Isn't there a newer firmware that fixes this issue ?
Does anyone have it ?

From what I've learned on here, my TV's firmware is newer than the one on the Seiki website. What I really they would do is enable 4K at 60Hz. Probably would require new hardware, though.

Correct, that requires HDMI 2.0.

I know this was posted a while ago but the dropbox link has been removed.  I am having an issue with the DLC on the SE50UY04 TV and would love to get my hands on the firmware that will allow me to turn it off.  Does anyone have a link to it???

Has anyone ran a photo slideshow from the usb port? Any limits on file size? Will it display 4k photos? What about using this TV in a vertical orientation such as a live movie poster?

I cannot comment on using the Seiki in portrait mode, but I have run 4K slideshows using the USB port. I obtained the files from various UHD wallpaper websites, and they're all at 3840 x 2160 resolution, regardless of the actual file size.

I bought two of these bad boys from Amazon, price matched Sears $599 ea. They arrived today safely via Ontrac although they just left them on my front porch. Good thing I was home and heard them. For the price you cannot beat the image quality. Sure there are panel uniformity issues when displaying panel prep slides but I don't notice them when display photos. I haven't displayed video yet but so far I'm more than satisfied. I'm going to use them in my home theater room to display movie posters, hung in the portrait position. Digital movie posters are the latest and greatest. A couple of AVS forum users have even created software to run digital movie posters from xbmc & other players/streamers. wink.gif

If you get the chance, check out this short clip from the makers of the Seiki panel...you'll probably get the best results if you download it using 4KVideoDownloader, then play it back using VLC:

So far I've only seen 4K movie posters on them and damn does they look great!. I did see that the left & right edges of the panel seem to bow a bit, meaning the actual display panel & bezel are not in even alignment. Can someone look at theirs and let me know if you notice this. You've got to get up close to the screen to notice.

I notice flashlighting in the corners and stripes when displaying solid colors. Some Samsung's have this also and they cost 3x as much.

I just got one a couple days ago, but Amazon shot down my price match with Sears (said it was a sale item).  If I understood you correctly, Amazon matched the Sears price for you.  What URL did you use so that I can resubmit?

Thanks!

I used the contact us link, having them call me while I had the TV in my cart. The rep verified the item and price with sears before I purchased it. While on the phone the Amazon rep advised me to complete my purchase and then they price matched the invoice prior to shipment.

Yes, Sears has the SE50UY04 on sale, but so does Amazon. They are price matching the same item on sale with both companies. If they don't want to price match, threaten to return it.

If anyone is interested I hacked up the seiki firmware for the 39/50 inch model:

http://box.houkouonchi.jp/seiki_firm/install.img

It has a modified EDID so it now has 1080p@120Hz and 720p@240Hz built into it (as well as 24/25/30 Hz 4k modes). This is usefull for driver upgrades not needing to do inf updates and for using the display with devices that can output @ 120Hz 1080p but you can't set custom modes on (ps4, xbox? I dont know... do they exist)?

EDIT:
Oh, I almost forgot.. I also took out the YCbCR support in the EDID as this has been ****ing with the colors for people and it seems some people have had issues disabling it so I removed it from the EDID on my firmware hack:

Hi guys, I need your help. I have 50 inch seiki and GTX 780, but I can`t make it show 1080p x 120HZ and 32 bit color. Is it even possible?

I was able to make it output 1080p @120HZ but 16 bit color or 1080i @120HZ and 32 bit color. When I set the last setting to the one I want, it automatically reduces resolution to interlaced or drops color pallet to 16 bit.

I tried using nvidia controll panel and evga pixel oc.

Thanks

I haven't had any issues there. I would suggest either 1) testing my firmware or 2) the inf override if your having problems getting them in via custom modes.

It was nvidia software not letting me use those settings. CRT solved my issue. Thank you

I don't use satellite, and I have my Comcast cableboxes all set to output either 1080i or 1080p, so I cannot say what 720p would look like on this display. However, Blu-Ray movies upconverted to 4K via a Panasonic DMP-BDT330 look very nice...there's just the right amount of additional sharpness to give the overall impression of increased detail in virtually every scene.

Can't say that I've noticed any bowing or flashlighting. I use my Seiki 50" display as a computer monitor for a Mac Mini (2.3 GHz Intel Core i7 running OSX 10.8.5 via DisplayPort to HDMI active converter) & a AMD PC (FX-6300 3.5 GHz running Windows 7 via HDMI from a Radeon HD 7750). Both desktops are responsive even at the maximum refresh rate of just 30 Hz, with bright colors, razor-sharp text, and smooth video. On the Mac Mini I have enabled 1080p HiDPI mode to enlarge icons and fonts while retaining the 3840 X 2160 resolution.
