When going from high definition channels back to analog channels the screen goes black for short period of time but you can still hear the audio it appears that either the TV or the audio receiver can't keep up with the resolution or process it correctly is this a common problem has anyone else had an issue with this

60" sharp led
Pioneer vsx-1022
Scientific Atlanta explorer 8240hdc

All connected hdmi

Check the video output settings in the cable box. Set to always display 1080i.

I thought about that too but it didn't make a difference. I also tried some of the hdmi settings in the pioneer as well but no results

Bypass the Pioneer and go directly from the cable box to the TV to test. If problem persists... revisit the cable box settings. If problem stops.... then the AVR may be the problem.

ok will try that in a few minutes. there doesn't ever seem to be any issues with the blu ray. and I just had to get my cable box replaced because the hd failed. also this pioneer isn't my first choice of avr but I got a crazy deal on it so I couldn't pass it up.
I have messed with the cable box resolution settings and the video parameter settings in the avr and also the upcoversion settings but it still gives me a black screen. on some of the other settings its a longer black screen too
