What happened to my crush on Sony TVs? Well, I'm not sure if the KDL-47W802A will fit in my shelf. While I'm sure that the KDL-46R453A will, I've read that its picture starts to deteriorate if you drift from the center of the TV. The 47" Sony is an edge LED IPS panel. The 46" Sony is a direct LED VA panel. Direct LED IPS would be the best way to go. The LG ##LN5400 is a direct LED IPS panel--perfect. The 47" version won't fit in my shelf. However, the difference from 42" to 47" is only 1&1/4" difference in all four directions--not much at all--and it will definitely fit in my shelf. I understand that the Panasonic TC-42E60 and TC-42ET5 use an enhanced IPS type called IPS ALPHA. My question now is are these two Panasonics edge LED, direct LED, or full-array LED?
