So looking through the threads I see lots of input lag times for 60 and smaller TV's but nothing bigger. Thinking about getting the Panasonic TC-P65VT60 for movies but I'm also a FPS gamer. Any advise would be great. Thanks Brae

I was gonna go that route too, but I just don't love plasmas really. We'll see what the the 4k tv's bring. But the Samsung UN f7100 seems pretty good and comes in a 75".

Plasma would be great for gaming if you didn't have to baby the crap out of them. When I game, I like to sit down for a few hours and just play. I don't want to have to take breaks every 20-30 minutes to cycle in different content so I don't get image retention.

Also, yes, IR is still a thing. It's gotten better, but even still, new plasmas are susceptible. I just recent bought an F5500 and after 5-10 minutes of watching PTI on ESPN, the Captain Morgan logo starts to become very visible on any light screens. Having to break to constantly run the wipe or alternate content is a PITA.

Funny you said that, that was the LCD I was looking at because I have a LCD now. I want the 75 inch but with a screen that big I wonder what the input lag would be.... I've never had a plasma so I was going to try one out. I game for some times like 6-8 hours straight so a plasma might be a bad idea...lol

I tried the F7100 and it had bad input lag. I settled on the w900a from sony for now but it only comes in a 55" mad.gif I want at least a 60" but would like a 65".

The Sony KDL-55W900A 55inch got the best speed on TV Input Lag Tests.
http://www.hdtvtest.co.uk/news/input-lag
I don't want to be disappointed so I think I'm going to have to wait or just get a 55 inch for now.

How do you like the w900? I think I might get one for now and put it in my bedroom when something larger comes along:)

Its perfect other then the size. Its very fast with 18ms of input lag, and the triluminous display is incredible. Today I went to bestbuy just to compare tvs and they had the w900a next to the f8000. I got to play with the settings on both tvs and even if you set the F8000 to vivid and max out color, it did not even come close to the color depth of the w900a in standard mode. Even the bestbuy guy was shocked, as it made the f8000 look flat in comparison.

I have read that the Sony is one of the best but I am replacing a 55" and the wife said, "you might as well get a 75 inch so then you don't want a new one in a year" Ha.

My wife said the same thing last night! lol now the question is can I spend 4k for the 75 inch!

Ok I have two input lag test sites now! check these out! Found a 70 and 75 inch! I'm going to go with Sony KDL-70R550A 70-Inch 36ms or the Samsung UN75F6400 75-Inch 39ms. They both got great inlag reviews

http://www.displaylag.com/display-database/#participants-list

http://www.hdtvtest.co.uk/news/input-lag

I'm going to use the amazon link from the one data base that help me decide which TV to get. I think they get like 2% from amazon when you go through a link. I''ll ask him to be sure and let you guys know. I'm diffidently going to use the link through "Display Lag Database" so he gets a little money from amazon for doing all the tests for us. He emailed me back and said that would really help him and the site so he can do more tests!

Thank you Mark Rejhon for help finding the second one!

Trust me when I say if you do a lot of FPS gaming that is to much lag. If you want amazing PQ with little lag, the F5500 (plasma) from samsung comes in a 64" that is incredible. I had it before the w900a but I was to worried about plasma IR. The PQ is better then the w900a, but again its a plasma. The F5500 is noted as having 34ms input lag with the Leo bodnar method but its been proven that the Leo Bodnar method is not accurate with plasmas, so its much less then that. If I had to guess id say no more then 1 frame of lag (16ms)

Ya I don't want a plasma because I don't want to worry about burn in. The sony KDL-55W802A is the only excellent LCD on both lists so I'm going to wait a month or two and see if any new tests come out for bigger models with an excellent rating. I'm pretty hardcore, have a SCUF gaming controller and I would not be happy if theres any lag. I like being at the top at the end of each round! smile.gif

Man im in the same boat for last few months. I've been torn between plasmas and leds. I really want 65/70" for under 3k with low lag and great picture. 3d is a must also. The Sony kdl70r550a is looking like a good option but wondering if that Panasonic 65st60 picture would be worth it with the additional lag and risk of burn in. Mine will be a 70% gaming 30% movies.

Heard yesterday Sony is also releasing a new 65" model called the w850a. It looks like a hybrid between the w802 and the w900 both which had excellent input lag scores and good pq. Something to look into come October.

I am looking for the exact same thing. Getting Xbone and PS4 in November so I want low input lag for COD. I love the Samsung F8000 but never got one because of the higher input lag. But from what I have been reading on here, the last update on the tv has corrected the input lag. And the 65" is $3000 right now. I may have just found my new tv. I think I am gonna wait on a 75" until I can get a 4k OLED one once they perfect the technology and there is actually content available. Thoughts?

The w900 is better than the f8000 and had better input Lag. The killer w as the 55" only size. But the way i heard it w850 utilizes the triluminous leds of the w900 but the w800 lcd panel. Wonder what that will do to the iq but all three use the same graphics processors so I'm hoping the lag still stays low. Cant wait to check it out!

I have honestly read hundred of pages of reviews and still undecided what to pull the trigger on

Vizio M701d 70" - great PQ, great value, seemingly high problem rate (5000 posts in M series thread), good input lag

Sony W850a 65" - not much talk on it yet, but supposedly best input lag, best picture (of these), but also newest

Sony R550a 70" - decent all rounder, not terrific PQ

Samsung F6400 65" - .....

Samsung F7100 65".....

Argggh!!!

So, I went to Best Buy last night and bought the 55w900a for the new PS4.  Every site says it is the best TV hands down for gaming at the moment.  But, the more I look at it the more I think that I am not going to be happy with the size.  I know the 55w900a has a better picture than the 65w850 but I couldn't help be think what am I going to notice more...the 10" or the PQ when I get it home and running.  I thought about it and today I went back and changed my order for the 65w850.  What got me was that my current Samsung 52" A series thats like 4 years old is larger than the 55w900.  I know not screen size but over all it's larger and I kept thinking that once it is sitting there in front of me it's going to look like I down sized and that also bugged the crap out of me.

So the reason why I am say all of this is because Best Buy gives you a 15 day return policy from the day you receive it.  I get the 65w850 this Saturday Oct 28.  So can somebody PLEASE test this TV and find out the Input Lag speed so it can put my mind at ease about going with the 65w850 for my new PS4 coming!!!  I have 15 days before the deal is sealed.  The whole reason I am getting this TV is for the PS4 and I want to make sure I am not making a big mistake.  Thanks.

you sound just like me except i haven't ordered mine yet lol. 900a too small so I'm comparing between that set and the 70r550a to see of its worth the premium for a smaller size!!

I'm also waiting for some input lag results on the 65w850a. It's either that one or the 55w900a. I'm also getting ready for the ps4 lol.

I am getting the Samsung 65F8000. They did an update and I guess it dramatically reduced the input lag in Game mode. And it's the best non 4k Led available.

It's currently listed as 45ms in the Display Lag Database. I would love to hear what the new reduced lag input in Game mode for the F8000 is.

Sub-1080p/60fps is not next-gen.

Hey guys,

I'm one of those torn between the 55W900A and 65W850A as I prefer the larger size and an avid gamer. However, I'm now torn between 65W850A and the XBR65X850A. It seems the XBR65X850A is the true big brother to that of the 55W900A.. Can anyone comment?

I'm simply trying to decide if the added cost of the XBR65X850A is worth spending when compared to the 65W850A... I'm assuming the answer is yes, but trying to find a solid reason to spend less... wink.gif

Thanks guys!

Crap, I'm now seeing that the XBR65X850A has an input lag of 40ms... It looks like the 65S990A has a input lag of 18ms, but lacks motion flow 960... This sucks.. Can Sony not easily offer the identical specs of the 55W900A in a 65" ... Come on Sony or am I missing something here...?

Nobody really cares about input lag yet I don't think. It's just luck that the Sony's have to best rating. If you game than you have to go with the 65S990A for sure! That's a really nice TV! cool.gif
