Hello all,

I am in the market for a new 60inch LED and it will be a big bump for since I have an old 32 inch LCD. Been trying to decide between 3 TV's : LG 60LA6200, Vizio M601D and Sony 60R550A. Have checked them all in store. Deciding factor is overall pic quality and 3D viewing. I am not really into SMART features as we do have a PS3 and Roku.

To all videophiles, what would you guys suggest?

I'd get the Vizio because it has a better refresh rate, less expensive, and if you buy it at costco you get a 2 year warranty with it for free.

I also think its a better looking set with a nice thin bezel.

LA6200. It also has a thin bezel and is better looking as it lacks the silver trim Vizio unfortunately opted to use...it's all gunmetal. It has better 3D.....2D>3D conversion and it developed and licensed to both Vizio and Sony the passive 3D technology they utilize. The 6200 has full web browsing capability as well. The 6200 is direct lit, the Sony and Vizio are edge lit.

At first glance I did liked Vizio pic quality as compare to Sony but just not sure about Vizio quality. And I completely agree Vizio is beautiful.

I could not play with the LA6200 settings in store but the color on it seemed kinda dark. Is that by default?? Though I know LG has been passive for long time but wasn't aware Vizio/Sony licensed from LG. Thanks for the reply smile.gif

Whatever you decide on don't make your choice off the demo material they're pushing to the 100 other models they have a display. Have a sales person hook up a bluray player so you can see how the TVs handle the content from a single source. We can all share our preferences and reasons for them, the bottom line is your eyes will make your choice for you.

Good luck!

for the close similar price, Vizio M601D will be the best choice with 240Hz refresh rate.

Thanks all.... I think I am probably gonna go with Vizio 601D. Sony PQ just looks OK at best (no matter how much I try to like it coz of brand). Of all the 3 brands I checked out only LG7400 and Vizion 601D looks good to me. LG is out of budget so Vizio it is.

Congrats on making a decision. I think you made the right choice.

I have the Vizio 70" M-series. The picture quality and immersion with a screen this size is simply stunning - especially from seating distances less than 10 feet.

Blu-ray is jaw dropping. Good HD sources like CNN and History Channel are razor sharp and lifelike.

Here's a pic I took of CNN HD over DirecTV with a Panasonic Lumix digital camera (click the pic to get a sense of the sharpness and clarity of the image)

The problem with Vizio quality is that they manufacture NOTHING...they have no factories. Everything they sell is a rebadged TV made by an actual television manufacturer. For example, in the new M series line it is fairly obvious that the 65" set is made by a different company than the other sets in that series.. Not a knock on Vizio...I have one in my guestroom/home office. It is, however, impossible to make generalizations regarding the quality of their TVs because that will clearly vary depending on which manufacturer they are buying a particular model rebadged TV from.

Amazon just dropped the price on the LG 60LA6200 to $1069 (not a typo) less a 2% rebate in the form of a gift certificate promo code.

Hey didn't wanna bump but can't find a newer thread on the 60LA6200...

I was wondering if somebody can answer a few questions about the 60LA6200.
I haven't been able to find the answers anywhere so here i am at the mecca smile.gif

Is it a IPS panel?
Is it a 10bit panel?
What is the advertised Contrast Ratio?
