Hello all,

My friend recently got himself this Sony LED:

http://www.sony-asia.com/product/klv-60ex640

He noticed that when playing video games (PS3) in dark scenes, if you take a a quick look around there's a blue-ish blur around the edge of objects, is this a known issue in LEDs or in Sony HDTVs in particular? I'm more familiar with Plasmas so thought I'd ask for more info here, I tried disabling different settings like the one related to motion and even did a factory reset, but the issue was still there.

Any help would be appreciated.

It is not normal, but you are not the first to report it.
Another has mentioned a Sharp set that has purple shadowing on the trailing side of motion.
He's been advised to contact the manufacturer...

I know the 60Hz Sharp panels used on some Samsung LED-LCDs (like the EH 5 series for example) have been known to have blue/purple motion blur around fast moving objects... 120Hz Sharp panels seem to fare better based on owner reports here

could the Sony be using a sharp panel or perhaps a similar panel tech as sharp?

Thanks for replying guys, yeah it has that blue-ish trailing thing around edges of objects when taking a quick look to check your surroundings, it only happens in dark scenes if it makes any difference, raising the brightness will eliminate it but that of course will screw up the contrast.

Since it's only a few months old, I'll make sure that he contacts the place he got it from, hopefully they'll either fix it or replace it because it's a pretty annoying effect.
