I was looking at the specs of two LG HDTVs and one came with a 'LED' type of backlight and the other came with a 'Backlight LED' type. I am not sure what they mean. Anyone with any information?
Will the backlight LED have local dimming feature? Or is that orthogonal ?

They are all LED backlit. Some may have 'direct' backlighting from an array and some may be 'edge-lit' from the sides.

Thanks for the replies. The main reason for my question was this:

I am considering three 50" models as shown:

LN5400 - Direct lit - costs 1099$

LN5700 - LED - costs 1299$

LN5710 - Direct lit - costs 849$

The text in bold is a verbatim copy-paste from the specs as shown in the website.

Now If I assume that all three of them indicate same kind of back lighting, i.e. non-edge full array, I can't explain why the 5710 is cheaper than the 5700 since the 5710 is a newer model (except that it does not have in-built Wi-Fi).

Am I missing anything ?

Also, are these TVs good for gaming?

Thanks for your answers! I appreciate you taking the time out to do this.
