tiger direct is local, i could go pick it up today, so the extra 5amp on the cord wont hurt the tv?

The TV will only pull the power it needs as long as the wire is sufficient to carry the current. Having the cable rated for more amps doesn't mean that it is going to push too much electricity to the TV. Think of it as the cord being capable of that much power being delivered... but the device consuming the power will only take what it needs.
