Hello,

Frys seems to run these 2 models on sale for same pricing very often. I was curious to know which TV is a better purchase in this scenario?

In my research, I would be more inclined to be comparing the Sony 550a against the Sharp 757 instead of the 655. In my opinion it's a better match.
Personally I am looking for a 70" as I think my DLP is in a downhill slide of late frown.gif. If the Sharp had "passive" 3D instead of "active" I would probably get
the Sharp. Both seem to be good sets in my readings (if you get a good panel) and it comes down to preference. Sharp has been making large screen
sets for quite a while.

I'm also looking into the Sony model. Can you please list the lowest price you have found at Fry's for that set?

I fully agree with the passive 3D part. Also, Sony's 3D picture quality is pretty much above anyone else out there.

I just called Fry's in Houston today. The $1699 major brand 70^ HDTV on sale now is the Sharp LC-70LE655U. A pretty good price, but you must have it delivered for $69.99 plus $1.50 per mile over 20 miles. I was hoping it would be the Sony instead because I prefer the passive 3D. Lighter glasses with no worries about batteries or charging.

They both got for $1699. The sharp almost every week or every other week. The Sony goes at times...

I purchased the Sony from Rakuten. It was $2198 delivered. o shipping and no sales tax made this the best buy that I could find. The standard price has dropped down to about $2299 from most sellers. Fry's required delivery and since I lived about a hundred miles away and I also would have to pay sales tax, I think I did about as well as I could.

Wow, they have increased their price to the norm $2298. And they have the KDL-70R520A for $2198. That is a lousy buy when you could have the KDL-70R550A for only $100 more.
