I'm looking for a television for the bedroom and am drawn between these two. The most important thing to me is picture quality. I honestly don't car for all those extra features that turn these tv's into computers. So my question is, which of these two would have the best picture quality? How do they compare? Cnet says that the outgoing Sony model that the KDL-55W900A replaces, had better black levels, but the new one has better, more vivid colors.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I got a recommendation and that is try and find the Sony HX850. Its an awesome LED/3D tv and you may still be able to find it online. If not then go for its replacement the W900A. smile.gif

Hi there. I was hoping there might be someone out there that went through this decision earlier in the year. Looking to pick up one of these. Seems like the Sony has more features, more in line with 8000 Samsung series. Tough to make a final decision. In fact, if someone were to say that the Samsung is just as good or better, I might even bump up to the 60 inch, while is a few hundred dollars less than the 55 inch Sony. Thanks for any thoughts.

I just went through the process of choosing between Sammy led or plasma, pana plasma, or w900 (I'm referring to the highest end non 4k models for other brands) and I ended up w the w900. No regrets. Screen uniformity just isn't going to be 100% perfect like a plasma but I love the tv and it has better color than the Sammy led.

Thanks for the post. I've been leaning that way (toward the 55 inch Sony 900A, which is at $1999 now) but a part of me is drawn to the Sammy 7500 (which is $1,599 in the 55 inch and $1,899 in the 60 inch). The room (living room) could probably handle the 60 but it would only leave about 4 inches on either side on the console. Plus my gut says the Sony must have some better insides at +$400 over that Sammy. The Best Buy guys say the spec out the same, but it sounds like Sony has some color processing that Sammy's don't yet.

The only knocks on the Sony I've found in lots and lots of reading is their Smart platform. But I don't think I care since I'm running AppleTV and will be adding a Roku and a BluRay as soon as the new console gets here. Main box is a Dish DVR now, but upgrading to Dish Hopper soon as well.

Thanks again for the reply. If anyone else out there has any real world in home experience on any of them I'd love to hear! I'll definitely post back once I get the room re-equpped!

Yeah if you're going to utilize some other device for "smart" features (which if you're own this forum or looking at these models I can't see any other situation)  then I say forget about the features Samsung provides.  Unless you really need the 60" go for the w900.
