One thing I've noticed having just had the TV since last Thursday is it seems like the screen lightens up on the side opposite where you view it. I normally sit on a loveseat to the left of the TV and due to the viewing angle, the right side of the screen appears lighter. I angled the set a little and it improved it some. I guess some weren't kidding about viewing angles on these larger screens. My previous Sony, which I moved to another room, is a KDL46V2500 and it had really good and consistent screen viewing angles w/o much noticeable change in picture quality. I've asked WS for his settings, so will give those a try. Also see the vignetting some have described. Pleased overall with the set. Still getting the hang of it!
The TV should be here in a couple days. Can't wait! I had a few concerns however. I know that LED TVs suffer from quite a different number of issues (clouding, vignetting, etc). Could someone kindly list all of them for me with a short explanation of each? Also, how would I look/test for these issues?

I have clear motion off but seems like when I watch Netflix from my tv I am getting the soap opera effect. When I watch Netflix from.my blu ray player I don't get this problem. Any pointers?
I got that at first, too. Since the Netflix app doesn't allow access to the picture settings, you have to go into another internet app on the TV (such as Hulu, Amazon, or MLB (don't have to subscribe to MLB to get a free game a day)). Once you are in the menu or playing video from one of the internet apps, use the options menu to adjust the picture settings and motionflow to how you would like it to be in Netflix. Notice in the picture settings it will say "Internet (Video)" at the top. These settings are unique to internet video and will apply to all internet apps including Netflix. To get rid of the soap opera effect, turn Motionflow to OFF. Then go back into Netflix and enjoy your new settings!

I have used the standard settings with a few tweaks and like the tv a lot more. I came from a high end plasma and did not like this tv at 1st but some tweaking in standard I must say this tv looks pretty good now. Whitesands has been a great help but I still had to make a few changes to get the tv the way I liked. Everyone has different ways they like their tv to look but you cant go wrong with WS settings and tweaking things from there.
Just order 65w850a for 1999 on Sony.com, after months on debating on which set to go with it was this or F8000, SUQ+, and H7350. Hope I made the right choice, i know its kind of stupid to ask on this thread, also is whitesands the best settings to go with if so i can someone send them to me?

You made the right decision, this is a amazing set with fantastic picture. I will go ahead and send you my settings. If you want to change back you can do a reset on each picture-mode making the set back to factory default. My settings are simple and very easy to do.
Well after a long time lurking, I finally pulled the trigger on this set. Thank you WhiteSands and everyone else for all the information and reviews. Coming from an 8 year old 52inch Samsung, I cannot wait to see this set in my living room. Delivery is set for Saturday! Any way you can PM me your settings WhiteSands so I am ready to go when it is delivered? Thanks
I have Prometheus in 3D and watched it a couple of weeks ago. The quality was just amazing. The 3D is awesome and the TV really does a great job with handling the dark scenes. Prometheus has a lot of dark scenes and the 65w850a does just a great job of displaying the blacks without loosing detail. One of the things I love about this TV is how on a letterbox move the black bands at the top and bottom are totally black. Because of this you forget you are watching a letterbox movie.
Wondering whether I am too picky or some settings I need to change.. The other day I was seeing Tropic Thunder in Blu ray and in some scenes I could see a hint of grain in a few scenes (Same with titanic) . Wonder if that is present in the source or some settings I need to change ? I am sitting at 8.5 feet away from the TV..
You may be up around number 50 or so that's bought this set in the last 3 months.
