I have a basic question regarding support of EU purchased Sony 4K TV,
We have bought a KD-65X9005A from Sony Europe it has Firmware PKG3.710EUA and the HDMI-4 port has been upgraded (also with support for HDCP 2.2)
We build broadcast systems and are presently showcasing 4K streaming with HEVC and traditional 1080 with H264.
We took our Demo kit including the TV to the USA for a showcase and where hoping to demonstrate the native 4K highbitrate content from Sony it's self.
Probably a bit stupid but we went to a store and bought the 4K Media player FMP-X1 and tried to connect it to the TV set but without any luck.
Does anyone know what the exact reason is for this it comes up with the generic "Cannot connect to 4K media player, please reffer to operation instructions" error that doesnt really help much. They're connect via ethernet cable directly into the router, and if I check inside the router I can see both MAC addresses bound to an local IP in the same subnet. The router is connected to a coporate AT&T internet service.
Am I overlooking something, or is it just the simple matter of the TV having a Eoropean Firmware version, in the latter case does anyone have any luck requesting a firmware change with sony to an US version ?
Thank you for your message.

So after some more indepth analysis and debugging it is the HDCP handshake that fails and prohibits the 4K player from connecting to the Bravia, and here in Europe they will not do the firmware upgrade like in the US and Japan.
A bit of a sin that we spent the money on this TV as it is a EU version nothing works in 4K and the 4K modus is absolutly useless sofar.
Even other devices like a RED player, or Sony PMW-F55 wont work even when setting them to only output on 24 or 30Hz I get the same error message on the screen and nothing I cant do about this. What I also dont understand is the logic that this TV that has a very decent CPU is not able to playback 2160p MPEG4 files no matter what container I output it to even Ultraviolet is not accepted. As other brands do not have this issue I would suggest that sony steps up the game in this mid level device market and offers a bit more support to early adopters like they do apparently do in the US and Japan. Here in Europe they have no intrest in helping and becomes a bit frustrating given the fact we have a 7000Eur TV that is no better than a Samsung PS64F8500 (that can actually playback H265/HEVC)

I have just tested the FMP-X1 player with a VW500ES after i have spend a lot of time to get my tablet to work with the US VPN using a asus router with US VPN inside i got it to work.
I can see the gallery on the projector, but when i try to play a movie it starts on the medie player, but i get a nice blue screen on the projector.
Is this because of wrong cable or just a firmware issue on this new projector.
Anybody who has some information on this topic ?
Can you try on your tablet to press show pin, then it will show the pincode on your TV. If you see the movies it's need to say $ free.... it's for the pre-installed movies.
Please remember that you also need to have your tablet setup to language "English - Us" otherwise you cant view the movies.

Another call to the Sony Service Center for the UK and Ireland (with the call center in Cairo, Egypt) came with a hopeful message that Sony in Europe would soon have a firmware upgrade to enable the FMP-X1 to work with the EU versions of the Sony 4K televisions. I was also assured that the early adopters of Sony's 4K televisions would be included min this forthcoming firmware upgrades.
This was in early November 2014. Hopefully, we can get this upgrade soon.
