ejmcguir:

So, you have massive AV sync issues, up to a half second, and extremely variable. You aren't really complaining about input lag per se, which can be an issue with this TV when used for games, but serious AV sync anomalies in anything but Game mode.

Are you using home theater speakers or the TV speakers?

I've not seen anything like this with my 9650, the 9700's sibling. I run all inputs (Blu-Ray, cable box, separate DVD player, HD-tape player, Android mini-pc) through my trusty Onkyo SR876 AV receiver to HDMI 1 on the TV. I use the TV in a custom ISF expert profile with only local dimming and TruMotion turned on. I have the Onkyo AV sync adjustment set to 150ms and sync is almost always perfect to just slightly off. I have AV sync within the TV turned off. Note I use the AV receiver and speakers for all sound even with USB and DLNA, and the TV speakers are disabled, with the TV sound going to the receiver via optical out (receiver is not ARC capable).

Does you hookup differ from mine?

@WhiskeyOmega : I have to use a delay on my Denon receiver but was able to get the audio sync tack on with all my sources after some initial setup. Also, since you got the Oppo 103D, I hear it has a mode for upscaling output to 4k@60p, can you try it on the LG just in case one of these last updates was for that support? From the release notes of firmware from 5/21:

"Added support for the "4Kx2K@50/60Hz" resolution to the BDP-103D/105D (HDMI 1 only, and in YCbCr 4:2:0 format only)."

@ejmcguir : Yes input lag on this TV is not great, if you read my first impressions near the beginning of this thread I did some calculations to determine the lag and mentioned it was not good. For me, in Game mode it is acceptable, just all the processing is turned off...that's not so bad for a game though, you're not getting all those bells and whistles (local dimming, trumotion smoothing, dynamic contrast etc etc) on a computer monitor either so it shouldn't be a huge deal. If your colors are washed out in Game mode you probably just need to do some calibrations...changing the picture settings (other than turning on advanced ones mentioned earlier) does not affect the input lag. As for your audio sync issues with movies etc, do you have a delay feature on your receiver? I believe I have my delay set at around 155ms. As for WiFi, I use WPA2 and have no problems...try upgrading the firmware on your wifi router if you don't have the latest on there.

Ah just sort of fixed it. Interestingly Av sync options from the receiver are not taken into account when you use the device directly and use Arc so it's up to the TV to sync which is fine. So I put a av sync in the receivers options of +380ms and it's fine. If it's not the same as mine. You can get the sound through the tv speaker (by selecting tv speaker) and turn them both up and sync up in the receivers av sync so they match. Should solve your problem ejmcguir

To add. You may have to switch simplink off to get sound out of both so they don't talk to each other.

The only way I got round it, like you was to plug Sky directly into the TV and use Arc. But there are quite a few sound drop outs, so, not too sure what to do.

Yea I noticed those drop outs. However I'm currently watching House on sky Atlantic from the sky box plugged into the oppo for the darbee processing and it's fine now that I've adjusted the sync to +380ms. Try my method of syncing up TV and avr sound.

So what's your take on the Darbee processing, adds significant value to the processing the TV has? Also curious to hear if the 4k60p will work from the Oppo.

I love.it. It just gives that extra level of definition that the tv doesn't do. It delivers better edge enhancement. It is as they advertise "like lifting a veil" Animation is also a whole other level. Finding nemo is a amazing watch on it.
The tv don't work with 4k60 however I've found that if I force it when I'm watching a film on satellite it forces the refresh rate down to 24hz @ 4k upscale

Did you make the +380ms adjustment on the TV or the AV receiver?

Is there anyone who has an out-of-sync problem with WiDi/Miracast?

I bought this TV 2 weeks ago, and I have been satisfied except this function.

I'm using Windows 8.1, and my laptop supports 802.11 ac.
I confirmed that the delay between WiDi screen and PC screen was about 200 ms.
I thought that it is not bad because it is wireless connection.

However, I can't use this function since the video and the audio are out of sync each other completely!
The difference between the video and the audio was over 500 ms.
I couldn't watch any video using this function.

Is there any solution to make a proper sync?

Sorry, I have been out of town for the 4th of July and just got home this afternoon.

I am using an older receiver (Onkyo TX-SR605: http://www.onkyousa.com/Products/mod...class=Receiver), and I will check that now to see if it has the option to add a delay to the audio. I am just surprised that I need to do that, as my older TV did not have this issue. I use this for my cable box / ps4 but have my ps3 hooked directly to the TV as I only have 2 HDMI in on the receiver. Might be time to upgrade my receiver...

Just to confirm that the av sync does change. It went from +380 to +330ms today

I think It's down to handshake issues but can't confirm and this from a broad new 2014 onkyo model so it could be a issue between the tv and onkyo receivers

Just an update to my blurring / ghosting issues whilst watching the World Cup..

Spoke to Selfridges who I purchased the TV from here in the UK. Their proposed solution was to come and take my TV away and run tests on it and dependent on the results send me a replacement set.. not ideal as I would be without the set for a week minimum.

So I spoke to LG Support again.. Although the guy I spoke to didn't seem to sure about what he was saying, they are sure it is just an issue with the input, ie my Sky + box and not the TV. He suggested I put the TV into Game mode which is probably the one setting I hadn't tried using for sport and.. amazingly it does seem to have improved the issue quite significantly!! I have only watched one game on it since but there was no sign of any ghosting around the players and ball blur was only evident when passing through the crowd area of the picture, which I think is just a side effect of the ball they are using in this WC and not a TV fault. I have seen this effect when watchng games on other sets.

I will continue to monitor but providing the improvement continues, I will stick with my set as every other aspect of the TV is great.

'Watched The Raid 2 on Bluray tonight. Wow as good as those 4k clips from YouTube. '

Been meaning to watch the RAID 2, so might have to pick up the BLueray if it looks that good!

If you have TruMotion on this can cause ghosting and artifacts around the edges of objects, I've noticed this too in WC games when the camera is zoomed on a player running and a fast moving background. Switching to Game mode probably set TruMotion to off and so it went away. Try just turning that option off in your regular mode (Standard, Expert, etc) and see if you still notice the issues.

Can someone please help me out with calibrating my tv? Is there ideal settings that I can choose. So far im not impressed with the TV, im changing from a pioneer kuro and there is night and day difference in the quality of the pictures. On the LG there are some major flaws, when watching the world cup, if the camera moves fast there are noticeable white and black vertical shadows for a split second, I don't know how to explain it, but Im pretty sure some of you guys have also noticed this and can shine some light on the issue and what to do to reduce it. Thanks in advance for any help.

Want to drop by to say Hi to some old friends here, I drop off from this thread at page 12 when I was about to start a long trip away from Hong Kong, so it was like 3.5 months already, looks like I have a lot of reading to catch up.

Anyway, some updated to share with you all. I placed an order for my 55LA9700 on mid April, but I have to wait for 6 weeks before I get my hands on the unit, it literally sold out for more than a month. I am now using it with 3x M&K S85 satellite speakers, powered by Yamaha AV Receiver, and probably will upgrade my sub-woofer to M&K as well down the road. Another reason for the long waiting is because the clearing deals in Hong Kong are extremely attractive, so the the sales bomb up suddenly like a rocket. LG sells the LA9700 with a lot of bundled items over here, I sold some of them to recap my purchase, and at the end of the day, I paid around US$2500 for my 55LA9700 and still keep a LG BP730 3D bluray player as free gift.

The TV just passed 200 hours of usage. and I have started to tweak the setting for better result. The TV is running on Ver 03.04.04 firmware and I am more then happy with it so far. I have some minor audio syn problem when playing 720P and 1080P mkv file from my PC, I set the LA9700 audio sync. to 8ms to solve the problem.

The only thing I really want to try out is to play 3D material from my PC, I was told that SBS format was better suit for active 3D, so what is the best 3D file format for LG9700 in order to explore its 4K passive 3D strength? Top to bottom? or should I go for original ISO file? What will be the recommended player for this kind of playback? My PC has installed VLC, GOM and VSO media player, do I need to install another player for 3D playback? PowerDVD? Stereoscopic Player? TMT6.5?

TMT is the best I've found for 3d blurays. Otherwise Klite codec pack with media player classic. Best 3d type for me is over under or just straight from blurays so remuxes are great but big file size

To calibrate your tv you'll need to use a light meter and specialized software. You can DIY but the equipment can be expensive and there is a rather steep learning curve. A professional calibration will run around $300 - $500 depending on what needs to be done. If you are asking to use someone else's settings, that may work but more than likely it will not. The reason is that the individual component tolerances are different from tv to tv, even within the same model and build, so that when you adjust the electronics to REC.709 standards what looks good and "passes" calibration on one tv may look terrible on another tv. You can buy a calibration disk and adjust the basics yourself (you won't be calibrating it) and that may be all you need.

From your description it sounds you are experiencing motion problems. Try different TruMotion settings (from completely off to combinations of blur and judder). This may reduce the stuttering you see but it may give your picture the Soap Opera Effect which some hate and others love.

Well, for all 2013 model UHD sets, this is a reality if you want to stay current. The upgrade should provide HDMI 2.0 support, HDCP2.2 needed for digital rights management for streaming 4K such as by Netflix, and perhaps improved/expanded HEVC support and/or a faster processor to handle higher bitrate 4K files. Samsung sells a similar hardware upgrade, although it is an external plug in box, and they seem to be doing annual update boxes that you must pay for each time. So, LG is not alone and us 2013 UHD model owners, even if manufactured in 2014, knew or should have known going in that upgrading would be required. Our main concern has been that LG might fail to actually deliver on their "promise" of a hardware upgrade, but all signs are that it will be here soon. Leaked estimates were $400 in September. $500 in August is in the ballpark. I'm encouraged rather than disappointed.
