I had an invitation to rejoin Netflix (cancelled because no 4K streaming in the Uk) so I rang their Freephone number and was connected to a US representative. He said that LG build the app and all Netflix do is to provide the content. He gave me the number of the LG US Customer Service people in the US who told me that a firmware update is expected in August to allow for 4K streaming from Netflix but this is only in the US. She also confirmed the HDMi 2 board upgrade is almost ready to go, again in the US. But she could not say what was happening over here. So, called the UK call centre. He told me (after checking with the technical people) that Netflix had decided on codecs which are not included in our TV and therefore, Netflix 4K could not be implemented as it was a hardware issue! I also asked about the HDMI2 upgrade board. He said that officially the technical people have no information. I said and unofficially? He said that unofficially, they are looking into it, so, hopefully, that is perhaps good news.
