I am looking for a bright, cheap and non-smart 60" TV for my parents sunroom. This has glass walls, ceiling and they want a TV so my Dad can watch football in the there. I tried a Vizio E601 but it was way too dim (and reflective), even at max bright with sensors off. I am currently considering a Sharp LC-60LE550 or LG 60LN5400.

Can anyone provide guidance on this?

If the vizio was way to dim, you may not find a tv to work satifactory in that space. If you have to improvise, you may have to inset one in some type of box ( at the expense of looks). Or you might try the sharp 60" 857 model with what they call their super-bright panel. But it runs about $500 more than the 550 model. I have the 80" 857 in a bright room with a lot of glass (including sky lights) and it does very well considering. Try and find a store that will let you drag one over to the windows and see what you think ( I know thats a long shot).smile.gif

The LG has the picture wizard function that makes it easy to get a good picture out of the box.

Personally, I think the Sharp has a better designed frame and slightly higher performing panel, once calibrated.

Show Dad some football love - bump up to 70 inches for $300 more at wal-mart:
That is a crazy price for a large panel.

Here is a review of the 60 inch 640 - the LG might have a reflective screen - the Sharp, a matte finish.
