After 8 years it is time to replace my 61 NEC 1080i plasma. I wanted to wait for OLED but just can't wait any longer. I sit about 14" away and do get some afternoon light.  My wall can handle either a 75" or 80".

I am looking for opinions as to whether the Sharp  LC-80LE857 or the VIZIO M801d-A3 or the new Samsung 75F8000 would be the best option while I wait for OLED. It seems that the Samsung has the best technical specs but the thought of an 80" is sure tempting. As I have been out of the market for years I would certainly appreciate any thoughts from those willing to share their expertise.

Thanks!

The Vizio M series got an excellent review from CNET. I got the M801D-A3 and, using Ursa99's RGB settings as a starting point along with the Disney WOW disc have what I view as an excellent picture. Watched the 3D Star Trek movie on it and really like the passive 3D. I sit 12 feet from my set. The Vizio is available from Amazon, Sam's Club and Costco for a smidge above 3k right now.

I assume price is no option as those are all 6k displays minus the vizio if you gonna have light take the screens into account the vizio is reflective while the other two have matte screens I would suggest going to bb to view each for yourself as the new sharp is very bright with the new tech they using makes the picture brighter but brighter is not better. I do agree if you can live life at 80" and above do so

I've seen both the Samsung and the Vizio and they are roughly equal in reflectivity. The Sharp is less reflective at the cost of significantly lighter blacks.

So did you decide?

80" Vizio LED - (60" Vizio plasma - retired)
Harmony 890 Remote
X10 Commander Iphone App = full control of lights, fireplace, pool, shades, from Iphone
X10 IR543 controller
Hunter Douglas motorized shades

bump... any more feedback? Currently trying to decide for myself between Sharp's 70" LC70UQ17U (THX Certified), Vizio M series 80", or Samsung's 75" 7100 series. Not looking to spend over $3200 or so...

Stopped into Value Electronics today and they just put up the 75" H7150, which is the new replacement to the F7100.   They had it next to Samsung's 75" F8000, Sharp's new 70" 70QU17+ and Sony's new KDL-70W850B.  I thought the Samsung 75" looked best, but the Sharp and Sony were tied for second place followed by the F8000.  All of them had the same content and they were all 70" to 75" sizes.

My favorite, the new UN75H7150 is slightly more than your budget, but if you can go up a little you would make a great choice and likely keep it for many years.

The Vizio M801i (non 3D but otherwise identical to the 801d) is available at Costco for 3K on the nose.

I am completely torn as to which one to purchase. I like both TV's! Now I was going to buy the Samsung because my wife and I both have Galaxy Note 3 phones and love those phones. So I'm a little partial to the Samsung TV. Buuuuut the picture & size of the Vizio is amazing.

One of the questions I have is how old is the Samsung  UN75H6300AF??? If I go with the Samsung, I don't want it to be an older model. I believe the Vizio  M801i-A3 is a new model.

Do any of you know how old the Samsung model is compared to the Vizio?

Thanks

This will be a silly question. The Samsung has a 120Hz processor and the Vizio 240Hz. Now I know that will be twice the processing speed. But what difference will this make while I watch TV?
