You can read any review sight there is and not only will there top tv be a Plasma but usually 4 of top 5 are Plasmas & 8 of top 10 are Plasmas .

Knowing this - why buy an Led? Besides the obvious of only having a bright room ?

Just curious ...

The issues of Image Retention, Burn-in, Buzzing and unacceptable color/contrast levels in a well-lit room are a deal-breaker for me as far as plasma TVs are concerned.
DaverJ and JSUL like this.

Plasmas have too much glare & reflection.

That being said LCD/LED are more glossy than they were a few years ago. IOW now they're almost as bad, but not quite.

Those are what got me to go LED vs plasma.  Watching 90% sports (tickers and scores) and movies (black bars) and having kids I didn't want to have to baby the TV.

And the buzzing drives me crazy.

When i bought several LCds i was not well informed. All i can tell you is that Plasma had a bad reputation (heat and power consumption). The last LCd i bought was a Local Dimming, xbr8, which is a ''good enough'' TV till OLED becomes affordable AFAIK.

btw its is not whats best, its about whats good enough and what works for you. Even on AVS most folks do not own a top TV. The top TVs right now are UN85S9 (4K), KE55S9C, and the 55EA9809 because that is the latest in high quality what TV tech has to offer.

In addition to the reasons already stated by others, heat was a big issue for me. My Pioneer Kuro would really heat up the family room in the summertime... Another reason is size limitations. I replaced the 50" Pioneer Plasma with a 70" Vizio M Series LED. No regrets whatsoever!

For me it's heat, image retention, energy usage, dim picture ect. LED does not give me any of that so for me its LED and nothing else.
