I have a Samsung UN55F7100AFXZA and a Sony Receiver. Which is the better method for sound, Optical out from TV or Coax out? Thanks.

I don't think the human ear would be able to detect a difference.

Thank you. There certainly are a mix of opinions there. I think I will stick with optical unless I can find a convincing argument against it.

Verbatim from the Sony DDW790 receiver manual digital input section- "Optical IN connects to a DVD player, ect. The COAXIAL jack provides a better quality of loud sound".  That's interesting and probably not characteristic of all receivers.
