Thank you...For this price I am just wondering.

If you didnt get it calibrated or do it yourself it wouldnt be surprising. Backlight being too high for your room could be the factor.

Bit by the upgrade bug, limited by the WAF

Thanks..

No it was not calibrated. Guess I need to do that. I am also use to a Sony 55" that I loved...sharp pic and this Samsung has a different picture than Sony and it takes awhile to get used to.

Jury still out.

There is a bit of lighter spots on edge on mine but nothing major. An led/LCD screen will always have some lighter spots compared to a plasma. Most likely you need calibration to fix thou. Also thou, changing the channel may not really be a true black screen, rather a lack of any screen.

BB ad also says "Receive 2 Free 4k Ultra HD Movies By Mail." Those words would make one think they are getting the real deal. HH Gregg has this set for a dollar less (lol). What a difference in price from when this first came out.

I'm hoping the Samsung reduction in the US will cross the border, and the $4100 will go even lower. BB will go down if you can provide proof of a lower price from an Authorized Dealer. The Dealer I got the price from, will not commit to paper knowing what I'd probably do with it. Local Dealer says his cost is $4429, and they mark up 7% from there.

Thanks for posting this, I just bought 65" F9000 last week from our local BB here NW Washington after returning the Sony XBR-65X850A, the Sony had some DSE I just couldn't get past.  I paid the sale price of 4499.99 at the time so this is even better as BB has price protection.

Don't bother to download this, it's 1080p. I just wasted 11.18GB downloading this poor 1080p sample.

I actually did download it last week, is it really 1080???? The quality was excellent so I have a hard time believing it's not 4k

Each vid is four 1080p files that the samsung combines to make a 4k vid. Make sure you put each group of four vids in its own folder and the samsung will play them as 4k. Also only the first file in each group will look like a video file the rest are called submp4 or something so the samsung knows to combine them. I was definitely able to get 4k demos working from that 11gig torrent.

It's def 4k, I just watched it again. The 1080p is as above, it's 4 1080p overlapped to produce 4k.

You need to make 4 folders and then put the 4 same title files together into each folder. So basically exactly what you said!!

Has anyone run into 10p and advanced color controls resetting back to defaults on their own? I’m using the cnet settings and inputting these is tedious, to say the least.

If the 1080p source is good then it looks amazing. PS4 and Xbox One console games look stunning and so do really well mastered blurays. But if there's a lot of film grain or if it's just a rubbish file with a lot of artifacting then I'm noticing the limitations of the content far more than I did on my 55 1080p set.

They have not reset here, BUT I found I had to enter them for EACH input separately. Hitting the apply to all only did the basic settings, not the 10p, advanced, etc

Btw has anyone else with an Xbox One been able to do the console's display configuration properly? There are contrast and brightness tests where you need to see a white sun on a white background. I can see it for an instant then my screen auto adjusts and the suns disappear. I've turned off all the auto settings I could find like dynamic contrast but would love to know how to disable whatever auto setting is still adjusting my contrast.

Does anyone know if the UN65F9000 will output Dolby Digital 5.1 thru the optical out from an HDMI input? Use example would be Sonos Playbar.

My guess would be yes, thou it's a guess. I know the TV decodes to dts for its internal speakers, so if you use optical I'm thinking it will push Dolby digital as default. I use hdmi for everything so again I'm just stabbing here

Your device doesn't support hdmi? I'm a bit confused on what your trying to setup and run. Do you have a receiver?

I have equipment rack in a separate room, all of my sources are there and switched via HDMI over CAT5 to the TV HDMI IN. The sound is the Sonos Playbar which takes optical out of the TV directly into the Playbar. My current Samsung only outputs 5.1 thru optical using the smart apps but when viewing HDMI the optical is only 2.0

The Playbar (http://www.sonos.com/shop/products/playbar?lang=en-us&region=us&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_content=General_Exact&utm_campaign=Brand_Product-PLAYBAR&utm_term=sonos+playbar&gclid=CLCf_PmxtrsCFYZrKwodvCYAAA&gclsrc=ds) only uses optical in as its source which I stripped from the HDMI in as a workaround.

So I am hoping the new 9000 series will at least pass thru 5.1 when viewing the HDMI inputs or I am in the same boat.

Awe I see what your trying to do now. Thats a tricky setup, I'd almost certianly say that almost no tv will pass 5.1 dolby digital BUT the f9000 does internal dts, which really no other tv does. I'm not sure if it will take that hdmi audio and convert it to passible DD, or if it will still pass it as 2.0. This is a new question that I don't think anyone has needed to try. I guess you could always get a new hdmi sound bar and sell your current optical, not the best but if your willing to spend $4-5k on a tv, somethings may also need to be upgraded.

Could you not split the audio from the HDMI and feed that optical output into the Sonos instead of from the TV? Something like this perhaps:

It does pass through 5.1 but not always. I run an optical cable out of the tv into a receiver and when I watch films off hard drive some films come through in 5.1 others not. I'd guess only some of the video codecs supply the audio in the right way for the Samsung to pass through.
